A small party of werewolves appear from the trees at the coyote-person logging camp. They are well armed. "Who leads you, cousins?!" the largest of them shouts, "I wish to speak with the alpha!"

"Elves? They're bloody blighters alright, but im not one fer eatin the souls o the dead. Well maybe just on- no, no im alright, I'd prefer a strong drink anyway."

(OOC: by the way, shall we make it so that rivers can only be crossed by swimming and flying races, but can have bridges built on them at verticle or horizontal tiles? I mean like this:

(OOC: I was thinking something similar about the bridges. Sounds like a good idea to me.)

one of the coyotes approaches the largest of the werewolves.

"I am afraid our leader is not present. I am currently acting in his stead. How may I help you?"

Imp looks into his empty hand, then at the others around the board.

"Guess I better start bringing more."

Fenrir shivers. "You really shouldn't eat all that junk food, Armok. Imp, my werewolves seek an audience with the leader of the logging group. What is their response?"

Hermatus moves his piece deeper into the mountain. "Mortals are slow workers arent they?"

He was told they were nearing the half and that he would be put in charge of the mid-tunnel outpost. The old site was running out of space and the population was booming. Already two new fortresses had sprung up. Their safe haven in the mountains wouldnt sustain them for long. This was his motivation, this was why he kept mining, at the end would be a new world to explore.

EDIT: (OOC: I supose I better explain what im doing, im building up my start area into the capital of my civ, after the tunnel is complete a ☼ will be placed at the center of the three fortresses turning it into one big fortress. A ☼ can only be placed if it connects three seperate settlements. It doesnt give any bonuses other than having a capital gives you a better footing, mainly cause it takes more than 1 turn to capture. Otherwise it usually gets a lower defense bonus because of its size, it can be attacked from numerous directions.)

"Oh, I'm sorry, Imp. I wasn't paying attention."

"This is the territory of The Wolf-Counsel of Howls." the werewolf says. He looks around him at the coyotes at work chopping down trees. "These trees belong to us."

The coyote glances back at his comrades

"We need lumber to expand our settlement. I assure you that we will take only what we need and nothing more."

(OOC: I reckon that forest tile will change from ♣ to . when the logging is complete unless the werewolves do something. Sure it may not be bad at first, but when Apache's humans need wood too, Fenrir is going to be losing his forest, tree by tree. Hell, the dwarves dont even have any trees in their little pocket in the mountains, when they see such a big juicy forest... they wont do too much damage, they are nature-dwarves afterall.   :D )

The werewolf ponders a moment. "You come from the mountains, yes?" he asks, gesturing northward where the icy mountain peaks can be seen.

(OOC: Actually, they don't really need that much. It'll still be forested, but slightly less so. Unless somebody else comes along, of course.)

"Yes, yes. Our settlement is to the north, by a river."

"Perhaps arrangments can be made." the werewolf says, "I must consult the council. Cease your logging activites."

Greentoes had come up to him and said to start digging a shaft upwards to the left while the others continued forward. Soon the rock started to crumble and beams of light started to shine into the dark tunnel. Jencullok stood out in the snow. This wasnt exactly what he was expecting, they were just below one of the mountain's peaks and it was freezing. Still it would prove to be one of the best watchtowers in the land. He could see everything except that what the tip of the mountain hid from view. After looking back at the valley that was his home, he couldnt help but feel glad he was leaving it, cramped and small as it was.

(OOC: Time for sleep!)
