Gregnar looks at the gameboard and scowls.
"A sly move, Youh. Your lizards may actually stand a chance. A small one, but a chance nonetheless."
Kailith and his warriors were now rushing ahead at full speed, their camels kicking up clumps of sand as they charged. They unleashed a mighty battle yell and raised their scimitars and bows high. Far in front of them, the Dracon were flying frantically through the air above their town. They would be upon them in minutes, and the slaughter would commence...
"Archers, ready your bows! Put on a full stop when I give the order and fire at the nearest winged beast! I want to see them drop from the sky!" Kailith was barking the orders at the top of his lungs. "Warriors! We will make a stop behind the archers when they begin firing. We charge only when I give the order!"
The breakneck pace continued over another sand dune until the city was in plain view. The keep could be seen towering above the rest of the buildings. The armed Dracon soldiers could be seen about to make a counterattack. Some were certainly more well armed than others, perhaps just hastily given weapons in an attempt to even the odds.
"Stop! Now!"
The six archers pulled hard on their camels' reigns. They were at the edge of the city now, and the riders fell far behind the archers, awaiting Kailith's command.
Suddenly, a few dracon flew down as a counter attack. The archers notched their arrows and took aim as they approached at quickening speeds. Suddenly, six arrows were flitting through the sky, one striking a dracon right in the upper body. The creature suddenly spun once and slammed into the desert sands. Two more still remained, and continued flying towards their targets.
"Fire!" one of the archers yelled, and another volley of arrows flew, two hitting the same dracon. It quickly fell to the ground, flipping several times against the sands. Still one more remained, and it was now flying at blazing speeds. Kailith could only stare in horror as it smashed into one of his archers, sending him flying to the ground. It was a quick and sudden slash of the creature's claws and the man's throat was slashed open, pooling blood on the ground.
Kailith's eyes filled with rage and he charged forward, his camel galloping at full speed. A quick slash of his scimitar, and the creature slumped to the ground, just before it could get up.
He look up and cursed. How many more of them were there? It seemed like dozens were flying around the keep. Against their group twenty- well, now nineteen. These odds looked impossible.
"Move forward! Down this street! Kill anything that comes too close!"
With that order, his men were moving at full speed. Kailith was now close behind.
Log of Hamar, Priest of Gregnar
Kailith has not returned, and I feel I know the reason. We have seen them. Large groups of scaly, winged humanoids moving across the desert to the southeast. A demon of sand travels with them. I fear they are headed for Kailith's raiding party. Perhaps he made an assault on a nearby outpost.
The temple of Gregnar nears completion, but more trees will be needed to cut down for it to be finished. It is already a towering construction, and can be seen from far away in the desert. With this link, Gregnar will be able to assist us in our time of need. I can only pray that Kailith returns unharmed. Our laborers are growing restless, and many are being recruited into a militia, given only crude wooden spears and shields should those beasts make an attack on our settlement.
They will merely be fodder. Us priests are gifted by Gregnar. We have the ability to change things as we see fit, though it may consume most of us in the process. We must defend this temple of stone and wood at all costs. When Kailith returns - and he will - we will be able to contact utilize some of Gregnar's power and destroy all that oppose us. This is what High Priest Rugar tells us.
Gregnar will not fail us. He never will.
