Mine's just random.

Unless you can find someone like that from the little description I have.

Clearly a mix of Hermione Granger and Harry Potter.

Or Jade Harley and Dave Strider.

Or... nah, I got nothing.

My character is a congolmerate of Sam Axe, Adrian Monk and Dexter Morgan. Throw in a little Agent Mulder in there and you got yerself a tasty meal of crime solving goodness.

Case 1-Gambling is Bad

The six of you are sat around a table; all of you cops, despite Greags' young age. Suddenly, a secratary comes out of nowhere. "Sorry to bother you," she says, bringing a clipboard out from behind her, "but there's been a murder at some flats a few blocks away. We'd get some other group to do it, but they're all busy at the moment." Taking the clipboard, Steve thanks the woman and checks the notes. After a quick and bland walk to the car, he fills you in while Amanda drives. "The victim's called Scott Jackson. He was found dead in his flat around an hour ago. Cops secured the scene 15 minutes later and are waiting for us to examine the scene. Blood stains on the wall suggests there was a struggle." Johnny checks that he has all his equipment and asks "What do we know about him?" After flicking a page, Steve answers "The large poker table in his room suggested that he was an active gambler. Aside from that... nothing." The car pulls to a halt and you all get out.

After a flight of uneventful stares, you reach the top which it taped across. " Bending over and looking right, Greag notices two security cameras on the floor, each with a sharp knife in them. The window to the left is broken with only a few bits of glass on the floor. One of the cops comes and removes the tape so you can get in. There are two doors, each opposite to one of the downed cameras. The one furthest away from you, according to the cop, is the murder scene, and the one closest to you is locked. What to do?

Steve stands outside the door with his hands clasped behind his back. The newshound in him wants to scream at the top of his voice, "GANGLAND KILLING!" The cop in him knows that this would be ostentatious, and silly, but hunches can, after all, pay off...

The destruction of the security cameras implies one of two things... that the attacker came from the hall, or that he (or she!) destroyed the cameras on the way in, or that the attacker came from inside, probably the window, and destroyed the cameras on the way out.

Enter the room and search for photographs, in an attempt to discover his relations.

(man sleepiness does affect comprehension)

Steve stands otuside the door with his hands clasped behind his back. The newshound in him wants to scream at the top of his voice, "GANGLAND KILLING!" The cop in him knows that this would be ostentatious, and silly, but hunches can, after all, pay off...

The destruction of the security cameras implies one of two things: premeditation, or spur-of-the-moment self-preservation from this attacker.

Search for photographs, in an attempt to discover his relations.
The cameras are OUTSIDE the murder scene.

Desmond looked over the scene with a casual air. To noone in particular, he says "Well, it's possible that the window was broken from the inside-there's barely any glass here. A feeble attempt to disguise this as a random break in, perhaps.

I walk outside and and check the ground beneath the left window. I'll gather evidence here, looking for blood or cloth fibers on the shards.

"Someone check the body over. We need to know what killed him," David says, his attention clearly elsewhere. "I'll run down and grab the security tapes. Even if the cameras are destroyed, they might've caught something."

He heads to the apartment's security facility and searches the tapes for anything useful.

Enter murder scene... with style! Give the room a good scan from the doorway before proceeding too deep.

Turn 1-Not the best criminal

Spoiler: Actions and Rolls (click to show/hide)

Greag tries to pull the door open. After a few failed attempts, he gives up and lets David try. He twists the handle and pushes, revaling the room inside. He, Amanda, Steve and Johnny step in and take a look at what's inside. To the left are some cooking appliances, with one two of the kinves missing from the rack. Steve starts rummaging through the drawers, but only finds a photo of the victim alone.

To the right is a small TV, but no chairs in front of it-they had all probably been moved to the large poker table in the middle of the room. All of the chips are scattered across it, and there is a large shoeprint in the middle. Behind the table is the dead body of Scott Jackson. He's dressed in a white T-Shirt and blue jeans. He appeares to be in his mid-50's with most of his hair going grey. His face is covered in bruises.

The wall behind him has a large blood stain on it.The gap appears to match the one on the victim's head. There are three doors on the back wall, two of which are open.

While that is going on, Desmond goes back downstairs to the area below the broken window. After taking some photos, he pulls out some Luminol and finds a small trace of blood on the glass. Tape revealed some black fibres-probably from a jumper.

Meanwhile, David was checking the tapes from the camera that were kindly donated by the owner. It shows 7 people going in, 7 people going out... and what appears to be a black jumper. With a knife. The other camera revealed nothing.

"Poker night. 7 people in, 7 people out. Any signs they were playing for cash? The knife means the murder was premeditated, but why'd he leave through the window? Must have been covered in blood. Downstairs meant the receptionist would see him. Mr. Jackson let in the perp willingly but when he realized his life was being threatened, grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to defend himself. Might've gotten a good slash in. The killer was probably in a hurry, someone look around for Mr. Jackson's knife."

Send the tape off to HQ and see if we can run it through some facial recognition software -- the men who came here were likely acquainted... and one of them's probably the killer.
