As the new successor for this filthy dump called Pearlings I was disgusted by the shape of it all.

We had a still in the process of being dismantled while the place is complete void of any decent dwarven drinks. we had more then enough seeds to feed are partly population. by Armok Why no one has gone insane yet is beyond me. I stop the removal of the still and quickly order the our brewer to start work.

Who ever decide on how to organize our filthy dump should have his fingers removed. Not only was there only one real stock pile there was no organization involved everything is just lumped together. By Armok why are we working on the magma forges if we have no way to place our goods. I am going to start having our crafter's make some bins so we can reduce our massive clutter, as well as create some blocks out of our plenty full amount of stone strewed about.

Don't even let me get started on our military operations we have one, count it ONE man in our armed forces. And not only that our sheriff is outside being chased by some hideous goat who looks like it hasn't eaten for many a months. Our defenses are shameful I wish to shed a tear for the utter lack of our safety. During my year of tenure I am going to order the construction of a fortified wall to help protect us more then these silly traps.

my leadership shall be remember here but it shall not be fond memories. By Armok save me from this foul hole as I shall shape this lazy members of society into real dwarven men and women. They shall know why my nickname is Violently Happy

(I will update more as I get further. It is so horrid in here that I have yet to unpause the game in order to get everything ready lol)

Who promoted out sheriff? Not only is he our ONLY brewer... he is our ONLY farmer... I plea to the gods who may hear me please punish those who built this fortress that not even a rat could live in. I did some job rearranging and decide to have more farmers and miners as well as tell a few of those with more important matter to stop hauling things around.

22th of granite
I couldn't even have timed the change in job for a new brewer sooner. Not even a full month of rule and already we have problems not only with the work ethics of out society but our very own sheriff threw a tantrum luckily he did nothing more than scream like a sissy girl.

I can't really blame him. I asked him for what sad reason he threw such a tantrum. here is a copy of the write up of his feelings towards his emotional roller coaster of a life.

Loosing so much in such a short span would make me even beat a defenseless kitten to a pulp.

26th of granite
By the gods of all that is unjust who forgot to mention that we have struck the BLUE GOD. I was viewing our stock profile and noticed we had struck the very thing of legends. the very essence of what makes us Dwarven men dig to the unknown reassesses of the very ground we stand on.

I immediately ordered to dig out the area and am going to attempt to see if this BLUE GOD rises any higher then it current depth at which we found it.

8th of Slate
Well the lacks of drinks and the deaths of many by the dead themselves has become a bit to much for our Sheriff Rigoth. He has been struck by melancholy He wonders the halls babbling to himself and crying. I am not sure of what will become of him, but I have heard terrible stories of dwarves committing suicide from such a syndrome as this. It is a good thing in ways we do not need a sheriff until we have stabilized ourselves.

16th of Slate
No more then 8 days after our Rigoth decided to demote himself from Sheriff to babbling idiot one of the peasant attempting to haul in some wood was struck down by several of those damn goats that been plaguing our men. those foul skeletal reanimated dead goats are becoming a real pain. if thats not bad enough we do not have the military power to be able to kill them... errr correction in this case dismantle them.

Praise the heavens we have new wave of migrants arriving and its our biggest yet with 21 new dwarven slaves I mean workers we may just have a chance to survive this death trap. there seems to be some decent dwarvs here including a pump operator and a decent bone setter that can also suture wounds. Looks like not only that but the goats followed them straight into some traps we have 2 of them caged. for the moment I am informing all dwarves to halt wood hauling operations until something can be done with those goats. and with a new wave of recruits I am planning to enlist we should have a bit better sizable defense.

I have recruited 7 men and women into the military and am working on getting some training and patrols planned out for them and when I think they are deserving enough and I have them properly outfitted I will have them defend the entrance until the wall to our home is constructed.

With my rule so far time seems to move very slowly with constant interruptions I fear my year here may last longer then I was first expecting. and with the massive amoutn of work needed to be done I worry about my own sanity.

(how am i doing so far guys? do you like my narrative thus far. I haven't seen you say a word and I have made 3 posts in a row.)

I like it.
I think the reason why no one is commenting is because you are posting updates on the fortress so often.

Well no sooner did we get our new pump operator he was he struck down by those damned goats. I have called marshal law and restricted every able body inside our shit hole and forbidden all outside items. With the current deadly dead outside I don't want anymore accidents until we can better attack these creatures. I hope the dead can forgive me for leaving there corpses outside. Our body count is at 10 so far sense the founding of our establishment. the 21 that arrived originally got cut down to 18.

15th of Falsite
The elven caravan has arrived but we had no broker to allow us to trade with the tree hugger's. they spoke with Ineth our expedition leader and the damn elves asked us to limit our wood cutting... I was reluctant to let him agree to this arrangement but sense we can't really go outside and our current wood supply is decent I allowed such a thing. sense we had no broker and our odd ball expedition leader was better as a broker then he was a leader i decided to take his position as leader and demote him to broker. there shall be engravings of me soon. the elves are worthless they have nothing of value all I decided to trade where some useless items for more booze and food.

summer has arrived It took much longer then I would have like but it's here I am going to order that another farm be placed besides the one we have and just have them bucket the water in instead of damming another portion of the brook. I am also increasing our food stockpile up top, and at the moment of designating the dig site our sheriff had died of thirst. I built a burial room for the dead near the front top most layer that way we can bury him properly instead of letting him rot where he fell.

I decided to turn some of our useless peasants into some useless miner... at least until they are no longer needed.
our engraver has been been struck by some odd mood and has kicked our craftsdwarf out of his shop and began gathering things.

Success he created an er umm ugly ass ring with a picture of our blowgun... sheesh get back to work you miscreant.

(thats all I have to make of mention so far I'll update later I need a break. You guys sure gave me a whole lot of things to take care of hopefully it will save this sorry hell hole we call home and make the next person's turn a bit easier.)

Complain complain complain. How about something positive? During my ruling everyone was almost always estatic. Except for the last month. Then things went down.

An eagle already did. The goats aren't that tough. I'm going in there in adventurer mode to check it out. Want me to post stuff?

5th malachite
I have order our dabbling strand extractor to start extracting the metal from our adamantine. things are going a bit slow with the mining process as we really only have one good miner. We also attracted no new migrants this season perhaps they are scared to come here. Our military is busy training but without proper equipment for them I don't need them rushing out to battle. Hopefully before the year is over I can get some of these recruits outfitted in our soon to be blue armor. I also fear for our military might as the name they have chosen to call themselves is something in a whole new level of insanity.

I have decided sense the brook is our only entrance that a wall be built at both ends with one that has a small bridge that can be raised to help protect those inside our home. I just hope we don't get attacked by something that can swim the brook with ease.

(I could build a much better system then this but I didn't want to go through the hassle of damming the brook to build it.)

Autumn has arrived and it seems things have finally started to come together. I have made orders for gold bars to be made and I am planning and creating some gold crafts and having them encrusted with gems so we have some much better items for trade. perhaps I will trade for some steel items from the dwarven caravan until we have a good amount of adamantine available for armor.

Nothing much more to really report as of yet. Hopefully soon we will have a real fortress one that can be engraved on many walls and floors.

Mid autumn
For once one of these lazy dwarves have created something to take notice of. We have ourselves a golden pair of grieves.

In the process of such a task he has become an armorer of legend. I look forward to his creations of many great armors.

I noticed 2 of our captured undead goat friends have earned themselves name and in that process I noticed something disturbing. Who neglected to inform me of such a foul beast in our home.

Lucky Daslut is wandering the cave that we have blocked off. If that is not enough during my gold making processes I was informed of a new very unfriendly crocodile

Now we have two of these so called forgotten beasts roaming the very caves we unearthed.

Autumn is almost over and our mountianhome friends have arrived for trading. I traded a few of our golden crafts for some bronze and steel armor and weapons. Sadly we did not have any of them encrusted in time for a better trade. I asked the caravan to bring more steel armor and weapons for there return next year. I also asked for some more seeds to be brought back next year as well. In return they want us to make more figurines and blocks.

Winter is now here and with that my time here is nearing an end. Luck be upon me one of our dwarves has made an outstanding adamantine crown encrusted with Tiger Eye

Such value in this item it has cause a massive influx in our general wealth.

I am proud to have seen such an item created with this new wealth of ours it should attract many more to our home.

damn just as my year is over an ambush by those filthy goblins has come and sadly the bridge I had built was place the wrong way (I can't believe I made that mistake) they made it past but quickly where captured by our cage traps and attacked by our cow-brains squad.

I am going to miss leading this dump here but I am glad I did it wasn't terrible exciting aside from the legendary items that where built and a last second ambush.
I shall now retire back to the forge with my four cats and one war dog.

(here the save enjoy. the goblins I believe are running away if not just have the army issue a kill command on them. and fix the bridge I guess i didn't notice which way it was raising in the menu before I placed it silly me. the barracks where not finished I haven't placed weapons racks there yet but there are 3 caged skeletal goats in there for there practice.)

might want to fix your original post fivex. Also I just opened the game to see who died in the siege and I died. :( I didn't notice it because spring started the moment the goblins came. I demand a proper tomb in the honer of my death.

If you want them dead then drop them from moderate heights and then let the undead finish them off.
Ooh! I have downloaded from there before but I just now noticed it's for Dwarf Fortress only!
I, Ott Bidokudos "Actedman" a dwarf from Ast Akir set off to find the abandoned fortress Pearlrings. They say I'm insane and that I may be. I have a whole big world to search through and little idea where the fortress is. I know that it is in an evil area with a brook. Almost nothing else. I can't say my skills are normal either. I am an expert thrower, an adequate swimmer, an adequate knapper and a novice misc. object user. (I wanted to test out the new skills and I just love being able to fight with any junk I find on the ground.) I have been given some leather clothes for my journey, a waterskin full of water, a backpack with some food and a copper dagger in it. I also got a copper spear. I don't need it though! I have almost no idea how to use it other than throwing it at the enemies. I now set off to find it.
When I arrive there it doesn't look pretty. Corpses and stuff everywhere. The entrance to the place is somewhere on the brook so I follow it. Soon I hit a wall. Seems I'm going to have to find another way in. A thought crosses my mind about jumping down but I dump that idea.
So there is a uncomplete wall on the other side. Well I slip in and find dwarf corpses. 1 is named Violently Happy. I continue further into the fortress. Seems nothing is living in here.
I find a room full of coffins. Someone named fivex is in 1 of them. I also find a chunk of adamantine. So the stories are true! It does exist!
I read some engravings on the walls. Seems that this fivex was an expedition leader once. I wonder what happened. I also find engravings made by someone who has the same name as I do. This is interesting. Most engravings are just pictures that mean nothing or events about other civilizations. I must know what happened to this place!
I was just attacked by a skeletal mountain goat. It attacked me next to a eagles skeleton. They both had names. I threw a boulder at it and it died. Err... collapsed!
Woah! I got friggin' ambushed by goblins. 1 is badly injured for some reason. I don't like the looks of this! Oh wait... They aren't attacking me. They are heading towards a... dining room it seems. I find a dead goblin corpse and rob it of it's metal stuff.
I would go see where they are hurrying but this dining room is so full of knowledge! Most engravings are still useless but there has to be something here! I find a picture of fivex admiring cows... Weird...
Ahaa! I found something about Violently Happy! Seems he was the militia commander.
I think I know why I can't find anything about what happened here. All these engravings were made early. Just about a year after the founding of that fortress. I should go look elsewhere. There is a suspicious door on the east side of the dining room.
Weird... There are only archery targets there. Then what happened to the goblins?
I also find a zoo and a bedroom. The engravings in the bedroom are as old as the ones in the dining room. Was the fortress not engraved afterwords anymore?
There are bedrooms on the floor below. Weirdly there are extremely many engravings about some human taming giant eagles about 400 years ago.
Well this is it! I have looked through the entire fortress but it's just some wounded goblins and old engravings nothing else interesting. Heading back outside and going home. Rather disappointing really.
What's this? How did I not see this before? Stairs going down. Deep down! I bet there are answers there!
I was wrong. Not much was down there. Adamantine veins is the only interesting thing down there. No engravings no nothing! I still bet those goblins had something to do with it. So even though they were friendly I'm going to kill them. Or I will die doing it!
Well I beat the goblins so nothing left to do now. I will try again in a few years if people still do turns but I'm not taking another turn myself.
