OK... I got past spring. Here are some pictures.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The brook is to your left. We removed the wall and weapon traps and added a load of cage traps. Why kill the intruder if you could just capture it. The elves came to trade and they do have some good stuff to trade. Some sort of other elf came too to limit our wood cutting or something. Apparently we agreed. I just hope they allowed us to cut enough. Oh and new migrants also came. 11 of them. To the right are the stairs to the refuse pile that is inside as the outside can be quite horrible. To the north is the well and a little water supply for some reason. Oh and of course the stairs down too.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Apparently most of the fortress has been put on this floor. The big empty space is the stockpile. To the right is the dormatory. The beds were rearranged. Oh and for some reason there were very few doors before. Did they really expect all these dwarves to fit through a single door? South there is the dining room that has been fully engraved but we still need 20 more tables and chairs. The workshops are also south. To the left there is our farm, seed storage, main staircase and some weird stuff. The levers were removed just to be sure no maniac would pull 1.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The bottom floor is smaller again. There were some weird empty spaces but since we didn't know what to do with them we just built the bedrooms over them. More bedrooms are coming soon.

Autumn came. Not much has changed so no pictures. I have finished pretty much everything that is needed so I would like to start on some sort of project. Maybe it could have something to do with... The magma sea that I dug out to! Yup! I got to the magma sea. I also found the cave layers but I carefully avoided them. Nothing can get in or out from the caverns. So what should I do with the magma? It's quite deep. About 40z-levels underground. Should I try to pump some up and construct the workshops in the fortress, construct the workshops down there, just leave it be or do something else? I also found 2 adamantine pillars but only a tiny part is mineable without letting the magma flood in. I still wouldn't try it after last seeing the HFS. So post your ideas of what to do with the magma sea and what project to start!

I think you should build directly over the magma sea.

destroy every living thing with the vicinity?

That only happens if you embark with 130+ thermonuclear cats. <.< >.>

Oh yeah... OK... I got a really good idea from you guys and I hope I am able to finish it by the end of my turn. Considering I have half years left it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

How could I make those kittens? It's a joke right? Anyways... Why does it still say on the list that I haven't confirmed? Do I have to say: "I confirm that I am active!" Well I just did!
Autumn has ended and winter is here! Seems my plan is taking longer than expected. I had trouble with some sort of skeletal bird. It killed 1 of my dwarves, 1 war dog, 1 dog, 1 puppy and injured another dwarf. That other dwarf later died in the hospital but that dwarf was also the one to kill the skeletal bird that had already earned a name for itself. The caves are lurking with all sorts of beats that could wipe out the fortress. It's a good thing I avoided the caves. Merchants also came. The used part of the fortress is pretty much the the same so no pictures of it.

You set the cats' natural temperature to something grossly high and when the game starts they proceed to explode in a shower of gore. Strangely despite having 100+ cats it's possible for a single dorf to survive though I don't know how. o_o Maybe they were sleeping in the wagon or something.

Spring came and I know I should say what has happened but it's just too much for me. I am leaving a few quick notes and instructions here and that's all! I started moving the fortress down where the magma is. Lots of interesting stuff is down there. I have dug out workshop rooms and a storage room. Bedrooms are being dug out. I couldn't finish. You can make a farm down there by carefully guiding the water from the above brook. Once you have everything you need to live inside I suggest you close it. I had a big skeletal mountain goat attack. Good thing I have a great sheriff. We captured 1 and the sheriff killed another. 2 went off the map but 1 is currently chasing the sheriff. She can take the goat! I also had a goblin ambush that killed a few dwarves. I captured all the goblins though. I hope you make it to your liking. When new migrants arrive it will be a great fortress again! I wish you luck!
The save should work because I have done it the exact same way before and it worked. Still do tell me if it works or not!
