Uh.. I kinda flooded the level I was working on for the smithing area.. Considering I've already wasted a bunch of everyone's time I'd like to ask if the next person will just get fivex's download and continue where I would have picked up after him. Sorry guys, I've never played on a map where the rock could drown you without any water nearby. o_o;

how bad is the flood? if its still under 4/7 water and it not pushing to fast you can have a mason run in and build a wall to damn it up or mine in from the side and channel down and make a floor for the diverted water so it doesn't flood the smithing area.

It ate pretty much the entire west portion and was working on the middle. >.o Also I have no idea how to do all that, only started playing recently.

ok here what to do and it is really easy.. unless your year is up then ignore this lol
Personally though ottott can probably fix it. flooding isn't a game ender for DF just a pain to drain and beside this is succession you start from whatever fuck up the last leader made haha..

1 mine down a z level below the flooded area and create a large mined out area.
2 Build and upward ramp right into the flooded area as close as possible to the water that coming out then seal the way you came in once the miner is out.
3 wait as the water drains down the channeled area when it low enough get in and wall the hole.
4 build a grate over the ramp so there no accidental Dwarf 1 was struck down by drowning.

Edi: Note you may loose a dwarf to this so do not use a good miner sacrifice a peasant lol.

and since I think its flooding because of auqufier stone, he needs to halt mining operations and smooth the damp stone so it stops generating Water

ops forgot about that. ya if its an aquifer you mined into you need to smooth the stone which stop water from generating from that area.. basically smoothing stops the cracks in that stone from leaking out water. aquifers are a bitch to get around but they are great for succession games adds to the oh shit haha funny story. but if it completely destroyed the fortress and flooded everything then yes i suggest continuing from the save before yours. if it's because of the brook then it easily salvageable.

also make note the next time you mine near water always remember diagonal spot will leak water.

I think zlurker decided to forfeit from what his post has said so should we just continue on and hand the reigns over to ottottott?

He seems to be creating his own succession game that he posted on the forums. hopefully he isn't to busy with that.

Don't worry until school starts (That is unfortunately in a week.) I have loads of time to play. I will get right on it. But wait... Did we have some sort of problem about turn 2 not being finished? OK just read my messages and saw the problem. The link for the latest save is on the 1st post right? I'll start playing in a hour or so.
OK I just started and it only took me a few minutes to sort everything out. I made some modifications but nothing too big. There are 3 levers that still haunt me. I would like to know what does what. If I pull a wrong one then the fortress might get flooded.

The left one opens a floodgate in the hallway between the farm and the rest of the fortress. The middle one opens one between the farm and the nearby down staircase. The right one opens the one preventing the fortress from being flooded
Nothing connects to the floodgates in the old farm
