Quick, someone do something to antagonize me, I need to spawn some sea monsters as soon as possible!

Next turn i`ll venture south and i`ll give you some antagonists for your sea monsters. Hehe.

/Also the birdmen would make awesome warriors. I wanted to create some myself, but a certain god was faster.  ::)

They are not impeded by the terrain, they can hit from above, they need no horses, they can watch the movement of the enemies, they can retreat anytime, they are always able to find a secure place to rest (mountains..)..

They always have the highground unless the opponant is in low orbit, gravity works for their projectiles, they will have the advabtage in air combat because they have instincts for it...

I was implying that they had planes too, and they fly them better because they have better 3d-navigation skills. they would most likely produce them first as well, as they have a jump start on the whole "how wings work" deal.

Except they also have less need for planes, so they probably wouldn't even think of needing them until the other races had them.

Yeah, and how would having wings help them? It's not going to give them any more ideas than birds did Leonardo de Vinci, and he didn't really make a airplane did he? He made a pair of wings and gliders, not airplanes. And that as far as they'd get. Who would work hard on flight as a bird-man? No, I think that flight advantage would be long lived, but it would die with the invention of planes. And, somehow the idea of a bird flying a plane seems redundant.

True, they would most likely not invent the planes, but they would be quite good pilots once they got the controls down. and a bird flying a plane has better armor, weapons, more speed, can fly independant of his own energy stock and muscle fatigue, and thus it is better than the same birdman flying unaided. and he would be better than a pilot from a nonflying race because his brain is wired to think in three dimensions for movement, thus removing some of the training that land based (and thus thinking in 2d movement) races have to get. and them having wings would help because if they have wings, they know how they work, if only instinctively. if you know how something works, you can most likely build it better than someone who doesn't. All they would need to do is get the right kind of engine to power it. Remember, there were engines well before there were planes, so they would have a head start. they just would not use it.

Being a bird-man means you don't need to worry about parachutes.

considering it's a fighter jet, I'd like to see a bird jump out of a plane 10 miles up at mach 2 and survive.

Right now fire and knapping are the most advanced technologies.

Fighter jets will take a little while.

I'm actually quite happy that this is the case, as we're going through the Stone Age quite well.  Someone should invent pottery or fishing, though. =P  (Been playing far too much Civilisation.)

I'm using the Civilization tech tree for reference, actually.
