Repair. Heh. for now, sure. In 10 years, they'll be improving it.

Well, I guess the Chosen will just have to starve out Dordrath's defenders if they're not coming out. It is a siege, y'know. They're not just standing around glaring at the city, they're stopping anyone from leaving or entering Dordrath. Sooner or later, food is going to run out.
Dordrath is a big town, though. I doubt they'll starve quickly.

I hope the gods scared them so much they won't leave until it's way too late.

Makes me wonder about how quickly they even thought of tactics to deal with a walled city.

Weren't the golems created to protect the dwarves? I assumed they were mindless automatons who could do nothing but fight. Maybe they can be commanded to life heavy rocks or something but building walls and digging ditches? I'm not sure the golems could be doing those sorts of things. I say stay in character and remain in the cavern/mountain. Let these foolish gods destroy each other and their people. I have this idea of the dwarves staying hidden and emerging later in the game as a highly advanced and regimented culture. Of course I want to do some things before that happens, notably react to Akiels meddling. We can have our own fun underground and leave the chaos of the Dordrath battle alone.

I'll be posting up two more pieces later (when I've written them), one for the dream of that little Murr asleep on the moss and one for the cultural reaction to Akiels gifts. A headsup for you Adwarf: Neshara is opposed to the direct manipulations of mortals that some of the gods are fond of and her followers amongst the dwarves (especially the shamans) are going to be extremely concerned over Akiel's intentions. There is very likely going to be a split in the dwarves very soon between the Artificers (those who embrace Akiels teachings and Kains sense of purpose/duty) and the Shapers (who embrace Neshara's wild ways and freedom of choice). I'm thinking that most of the dwarves would eventually evolve into a highly ordered society of engineers, mechanics and warsmiths who would live int he mountains of the north and maybe interact with the other races. Some (maybe 1/3 or 1/4) would leave to find their fate deeper in the earth, becoming more in tune with their environment and relying on intuitive magic rather than science for their advancement. These last dwarves would be the ones who follow Neshara's ways most strongly.  I thought you should have a headsup so you have time to think/plan/prepare for what's to come.

Ampharos: I've left a hint at the bottom of the Blood Beast story. Whether that beast has detected the presence of the dwarves or the murr is left out. If you wish to continue this tale I'll leave that choice up to you. Or if anyone else wishes to step in and direct the tale thats good too. If nobody chooses to take up the mantle I'll choose myself  :D

I doubt they even thought about it that much. They're just killing everyone who they see for fun and profit. I dunno how many gates Dordrath has, but you could just run out freely from ones that are further away from the main horde with a big enough group. A few dozen warriors could do nothing to stop that.

I'll wait for the Murr-dream bit before I do anything, though you're free to play around with the beast if you want to.

Can't wait for the cultural reaction. You write well, Demantiae. But if Neshara's worldview is anything like your own, please keep the roleplaying to her, and try to be realistic about Akiel's effects on the dwarves.

Oh don't worry it's all roleplaying! I've been a GM long enough to see things from all sides. Most of what I write is the world through Neshara's eyes or things meant to spark change or drama in the game. I'll enjoy writing about the Akiel inspired dwarves as much as the Nesharan ones!

And thanks for the thumbs up  :)

ok wall of text answer for Neshara...hum what do i do know with that Murr...

EDIT:
Propably all of the Murr will stay where they are. After all their god has told them in front of half the population that they should stay near the surface and be serious when a guy arrives from nowhere telling you that he fell asleep and that a god ashined in his sleep, which is compeltely unkown to humankind and he tells you to do something completely illogical...would you follow him?

Nope! But the idea is there now, seeded in their cultural consciousness. One day another of the Murr is going to get curious, people always do! And should any of them test out the content of his dream and actually try eating any of the stuff in those grotto's they might find those hallucinations hold some truth to them! You'll notice that Neshara doesn't tend to attract conventional followers, it's the outsiders and radical thinkers that come to her. Do the Murr have any hippies?  :D

When you said Trickles was zealous what do you mean exactly? Does he believe he what he saw of does he think he was hallucinating?

he believed in it...but his clan thought that he had hit a gas pocket and actually collapsed the cave to prevent someone dying of suffocation...actually ignore the part with zealous...i originally had something else in mind for Trickles but found it stupid and deleted it...

concerning their  number of outsiders and hippies. I pictured their social system similiar to an evolved form of a swarm of rats. They like to be in bigger numbers and absolutely despise loneliness, therefore i dont think that they have those guys who like to live an alternative way. The same goes for gods, they are in this pretty much like the Chosen...they have their one god...the Great Murr (as they havent seen The Maw in any other form up to now) and know about other gods, but why should they worship them? They lived good without them and they never ever concerned themselves with the beings of the surface anyway... :P

I imagine most mortals will choose to follow different gods if they feel that god more closely fits their character or if their god abandons them. I figured the Murr would be very pack like (swarm like even) but they seem by nature to be curious and it's only a matter of time before their digging finds something else and one (or more) of them chooses to investigate further. Curious creatures by their nature will discover things and scavengers without curiosity don't last long!

All it would take for some of the Murr to accept Trickles vision would be for a couple more visions like it to happen to other Murr. Or for a single hungry Murr to stop in one of those caverns and eat the moss or drink the water... But Neshara works slowly to gain her worshipers. Creating races isn't her thing, but changing them is! Change takes time.

We'll see what happens in the future. I'd planned for Neshara herself to visit the Murr and explore their tunnels. She'll probably do that after Dordrath as I want her to be led to the Peak of Blood via the Underguts.

The Golems are used as guards and builders for large buildings they are more or less the dwarves servants to an extent then there are the Craetors which are geniuses they are smart but not smart enough to think that they are slaves and rebel that would be a disaster
