Slow the child by pulling on him with telekinesis. Then tackle him and get the sword back.
This.
And give him a stern warning. Then practice decapitating skills by asking town leader for a job to murder bandits.

Just pull the sword out of his hands and back to you. It'll likely scare him shitless and he'll run off.

With every passing second, the sword escapes further. The boy is about 400 meters away -- you'd have to break into a sprint to stand a chance of catching up to him. Fortunately, your abilities are far from equal. You grasp the invisible tethers that bind your sword to your soul, tugging them toward you without holding back.

You expected him to let go, but he refuses to give up so easily. Eventually, you're dragging him, slipping and sliding, toward you as your sword's tether contracts. You start to sprint toward his direction, and eventually the two of you collide in the center. You smash into him with great speed, knocking the both of you to the ground and coating your clothes in mud.

Twisting the sword free from his clenched hands, you return it to its rightful place amongst the others, on your belt. Judging from the size of the boy's body, he's likely no older than twelve. You briefly consider decapitating him, you know, for practice, but decide against it at the last minute. Instead, you'll let him off with a stern warning.

"Listen, you contemptible ruffian. I don't stand for thieves!" you shout. He responds by trying to squirm away, out from underneath you. You put a stop to his futile resistance with a sharp blow to the face. His head batters against the muddy cobblestone road, and you're fairly sure he's unconscious. He'll be feeling that for days.

As you stand, you notice your trousers are even dirtier than before. They're completely covered in mud! You shoot an angry glance at the child's unconscious body before continuing on your way toward the town square. The streets are remarkably empty, free of passers-by. Probably for the best.

The voyage to the town hall is uneventful, and you arrive in a few minutes. Before you stands a large stone building, situated atop stairs of granite. The door is wide enough for three men to pass through, tall enough for a giant. You stroll in with confidence, your heart and mind set on hunting criminal scum. The interior is no less spectacular, a room of smooth-feeling stone and many treasures adorning the walls. A single receptionist clears his throat, mildly annoyed by your tracking of mud throughout the polished halls.

"Excuse me, how can I help you?"


Status: Sopping wet and coated in mud. And blind. Have a 'thing for swords'.
Abilities: Telekinetic. Can lift small objects and also swords. Swordsmage. Can hear the whispers of the blades and maybe cast some magic. You think you've forgotten most of the magic you learned, though. Can 'feel' the surroundings (this replaces vision and is unaffected by darkness.)
Inventory: Three swords hang from your belt. You also have a rope.

I'm tempted to ask for the Holy Hand Grenade for some reason, but unfortunately it's not likely we're going to get it.

Ask if there's any criminals that they're willing to pay for if we brought them to them dead or alive.

If he makes any comment about the mud on our clothes make a point of telling him you're not afraid to get dirty to get the job done.

Preferably dead.

A miner (With a New Zealand accent.) in a red environmental suit bursts in to kidnap a CEO named Gryphon, and the receptionist kindly asks him to wait orderly while she raises the alarm. He shoots her in anger.

You don't care much for this fellow's attitude, but you'll put up with him for now. It's a necessary evil, you tell yourself.
"You can help me by pointing me at some criminals. I've been itching for a good decapitation!" you say, proud.
The receptionist seems mildly alarmed.
"Er, miss? You're a bounty hunter, right? Why don't you check the board outside next time instead of barging in here and dirtying up the place?" he says after a brief pause. You weren't aware there was a board outside but play it cool anyway.
"That's some wonderful advice, good sir, except there's one slight problem, you see. I'm blind," you say, confident that you've outsmarted him.
"My apologies, then. I believe I have a copy here somewhere which I can read to you," he replies, apparently repentant. Looks like he's going for the moral high ground. You won't let him get away that easily.

"Of course, pity the blind girl why don't you. Because she's a woman you think she can't read. Well, I'll have you know I'm perfectly literate!"
He sighs. You're fairly certain you've won.
"Whatever you say, miss," he says, his defeat having yet to sink in. "Simon Leishman's the most wanted criminal around here. He's a bit of a bandit, having made off with several thousand pieces of gold over the course of a few years. He's 27 years old and has a bit of a beard growing. Apparently with the money he's made he's hired a large group of like-minded scum as guards; he camps just a few miles outside the city."

"Alright, and let's say I bring you his head. How much do you pay me?"
"500 gold pieces for Simon. 10 gold pieces for each of his underlings' heads.."
Clearly he's not a fellow to trifle with. You're fairly confident in your abilities, though. With that much money, you could enter the Decapathon five times over! Think of the wondrous swords you could afford then. You salivate at the thought.
"I'll take it!" you say without a moment's pause, marching out of the building. You think you hear the receptionist saying something silly, something about 'another adventurer marching to their grave', but you really don't care enough about that poor, useless shell of a man to respond.

You stand outside the city hall, rain still pours from the sky. Simon Leishman's camp should be just a few miles outside the city. You're fairly certain he preys on merchants, so finding him and his buddies should not be terribly difficult.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

And then all of a sudden, we realize Simon is a Telekinetic Axemage that could see perfectly fine and is without gender.

Find someone who knows where the guy is and get directions to his hideout. We know nothing about this guy or where he is. We need all the info we can find before we go and drag his ass back to town hall.

As Simon preys on merchants, they're likely the ones to turn to for information. While you're fairly confident in your abilities and don't doubt that you'd be able to find him given enough time, the promise of an additional reward is rather attractive.

So you set a course for the bazaar (in your head, of course) and start your voyage. You pass old, rotting buildings, their structures failing more with every drop of rain. You also pass a few openings to the sewers, bubbling some mixture of waste and water onto the streets which you carefully avoid. All the while, the rain refuses to relent, pouring onto you and your clothes. It doesn't even feel that cold anymore. (Though your head might just be going numb.)

The bazaar takes form as a large, expansive field, carefully tented in the proper spots to prevent rainwater from leaking in. You say 'large', but there's really only a few dozen people inside at the time. You catch one merchant packing up his wares and approach.

"Ever hear of Simon Leishman?" you ask him, pretending to be an authority on the subject. The merchant's face visibly contorts somewhat (you feel it), likely in fear.
"He's a bad man. Preys on your sort all the time," you continue.
"I-I know who he is! I can't afford proper guards, but hell, I'm getting out of this city," he says at last, and you smile (mentally), having found exactly the kind of guy you're looking for.
"I'll offer you my protection. It isn't cheap, but I bet it's cheaper than a few guards. What do you sell, anyway?"
"Clothes. I can't afford much, will 50 gold pieces be sufficient?"
"50 gold pieces and a rainproof jacket and hat."
"Fine, fine! Whatever protects me from that jackal."

Negotiations went smoothly. You help the merchant pack up the rest of his wares and he guides you out of the city, onto the roads as the hours pass by. His cart is drawn by a single horse, which he walks beside. You told him you'd hide in the cart so as to 'not draw attention' but really you're just feeling pretty tired. You close your eyes for a moment and drift off to sleep...

...only to be woken up by the sound of fierce yells and bloodcurdling screaming. Something might be happening outside. You can still hear the rain pouring down on the tarp above you, and you're almost dry too. Your short nap must have lasted longer than you thought it would.

If you don't act quickly, the merchant might die. Alternatively you could hide in the wagon until you get to Simon's hideout.
