Hm..
would recompiling in VC++ 2010 with the new dfhack work?
Can someone try this ?
I just tested utility with latest MC version, and it converts the mclevel files fine. So now we just need to get it working with 31.25.

Yes. It does a lot of things and I suspect that it does some of them in very convoluted ways. But it works.

I've cloned the project and it will be included in the dfhack sources as a submodule. That doesn't mean much for now, but I'd like to port it to the new dfhack and make it run in seconds instead of 10 minutes :)

Good luck!
I'd be willing to look over the code for possible silly mistakes, but that's about it. I'm only learning C++, so looking at code would be nice  :P

Got it running on linux with the help of Japa:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It's very, very buggy and I'll probably rewrite a good portion of it. Right now it's missing almost all the floors and there's something horrible happening to trees.

Code is here: https://github.com/peterix/DF2MC

Actually, alpha. At least the current code makes alpha levels. It will require a lot of work to be usable though.

You need an older version of MC, too, I'm pretty sure.

Like, indev old.
Last time I checked minecraft converted the maps, though that was around 1.2, I doubt they changed map converting much.
I'd just like to throw out there that this still technically works, as (last time I checked) minecraft will convert indev maps to more recent maps if you throw them into your saves, however one may have problems while using non-current DF version.

Yup.
Sadly it didn't seem to convert a volcano I had, but otherwise spawned lava pretty well  :P

still needs some tweaks, but it's usable.

Next thing I wanna do: support the cubic chunks mod.
