One article I read mentions that the area the miners are in is up to 2 kilometers long. I think they'll have enough space for a dump.

Yeah, I'm not seeing food and water as problems anymore, just exhaustion, boredom, disease and mental stress.

Yeah, if they can't keep them entertained, the only thing they could be unearthing is several murdered corpses.

Can they pass a hooker down an eight centimeter wide hole?

If they remove the hip bone and a few ribs, sure.

That actually sounds a bit like the official escape plan.  Gotta slim down guys, we're only making the hole so wide.

EDIT (so I'm not just fixing a typo): Would it be crass to suggest dropping a fleshlight down the hole?  I suppose it would be pretty crass.

They should call Cher then. Or just settle for an inflatable doll instead.

Goddamnit, to help them escape the boredom of being trapped I-don't-know how far underground for months at a time: toss them down a handheld game system like a DS or something. If they start accepting donations from worried citizens, they can accrue a MOST CERTAINLY RESPECTABLE collection of games while they're down there.

Can wireless phones and stuff still work while deep underground? I'm thinking no.

If they drop a repeater down, sure they can.

Give them several books on programming, and then Toady sends them DF to clean up the code and fix the bugs :)

Why don't they just drop them a pick and let them dig themselves out?

If I understand the situation correctly, the cave-in made the place very unstable which is why its taking so long to get to them. They're going very slow in order to keep from dropping more rock on their heads.

Let's just hope the whole thing just doesn't collapse on top of them.  The underground is a dangerous place.
