I don't think it's Windows, I'm running Windows 7 x86 and it runs just fine (with one exception, when I use ctrl+alt+delete it crashes... but since it's the reason I used ctrl+alt+delete in the first place that's not a problem).

For roguejack... could you possibly put a fps cap on this thing? It eats 50% of my cpu (dual core, it claims an entire core and runs it full power) at all times, even when nothing else is happening. Kind of frustrating, and it makes my laptop heat up so much it worries me. I keep the vent clean and it still runs very hot.

no. When I tried to install the SDK thing it kept crashing as well

Where do I even ge it? All the places I look give me the Directx end user runtime application, which also crashes 100% of the time. (sorry if I'm being annoying)

Uh, windows xp here and I'm using direct x9 with no issues. And Rumrusher it should be safe.

McAfee flips out over everything, which is both good and bad. It does catch the occasional spyware or virus, but for every catch there's around fifty false alarms. At least, speaking from personal experience.

There should be three urls in the readme that comes with the game. Go to those places and download the stuff there.

Windows 7 has DirectX10 by default so you can't install 9.
