I don't think that's anything new. The last time I played the only success I enjoyed as a zombie was tagging along with a Zombie Master's pack until their prey was so close to dead that I could finish them off. Of course, that meant racing all the other members of their pack to the kill, and it took a long, long time for me to get even one kill under my belt. After that though, the kills started to come much quicker until I was all evolved....at which point I was put down by the military.

Kind of irks me that so much of the late game seems to require companions one way or another. The biker gangs get huge, the zombie packs get incredibly big, and the damage output of a small squad of soldiers will bring down anything on its own. It makes playing as a loner really tough. I wouldn't mind companions, I just hate having to provide food for them. It's already in short supply by day 3, just for one person to amass a day's worth of rations.

I can get some pretty decent kills as a zombified man/woman by cornering a survivor and making them run in the same little space for a long time until they're both tired and hungry, which slows them down and makes them easier to kill.

I think this update asks for a totally new graphics pack. Let's see what I can come up with :D.

I've updated all new items and I've added thicker outlines to characters and critters to make them stand out better, and I restored status icons, so it's now less hardcore (you can see all small icon effects). You can always remove them if you want though.

I successfully replicated the bug Deon mentioned in the Alpha 7 comments.  I grabbed a corpse that was rotting, dragged it away one tile, butchered it, it disappeared, and the game crashed and the window mentioned 'corpse not found' as a reason. 

I wanted to point out another bug before I went to sleep and forgot it.  Survivor NPCs will get get stuck in an endless loop walking around trying to get an item that is on the same tile as a large fortification.  I assume this continues until attacked and killed or eventual starvation.

You can get tiles from that version into this one. But I've made outlines thicker, so try Deonapocalypse, you may like it now :).
