Yeah, does anyone have any ideas for bases? I mean I once entered a house, barricaded it all up, stayed for at least 2 days and zombies came. I mean, what?

Char base is the best place to baricade if you have a shotgun in my opinion

I've always wondered if the martial arts skills has an effect on the damage you deal if you have a shotgun or pistol equipped but are damaging them with melee.  It's a habit of mine to unequip my ranged weapon if I'm going to attack with melee but I'm not sure if that actually changes anything. 

My current character has reached day 31.  Here's what I've done so far.

Killed the prisoner that tells you about the underground base(he was a real pain to kill this time around, damn zombie prince). 

Cleared the hospital of all the undead doctors/nurses and got the psychopath axe.  It took about an ingame week to successfully clear the hospital, half the time was spent actually getting inside.  This was about three weeks in so every high tier undead was out and about.  For the first three or four days I would be charged by a wave of zombie masters each with their own undead horde and would get sent to the other side of the map trying to punch them all to death. After killing the psychopath I went to sleep in a CHAR building as I normally do at the end of every day but through the night I was interrupted by three different zombie princes.  Yes, even I was surprised when I limped out of the CHAR building with 5 hp and an angry horde of undead still giving chase. 

Now my character is slowly traveling across the city to find the underground facility.  I can already tell this is going to be difficult.

I have a question, what do you guys think is the best melee weapon and the best ranged weapon?I need to decide what weapons I should try to get.Oh no uniques please because I don't want to have to go through a boss to get a starting weapon

I'm happy to know there is extra stuff for me to do. I last played alpha 3.1 or whatever. I swear 4.11 is a lot harder, It was pretty easy to survive a long time in 3.1, I welcome the extra challenge. I haven't really got strong enough to go looking for these bosses or really explore the new areas.

So once I get the hang of surviving I can then go and find these things. I had a hobo character going well, until I ran into a group of gansters. I ran away, almost dead, but then ran straight into another group of gansters.. Man that sucked!

If you want the axe, its VERY easy to get.

A few steps,

1. At the start of the game, find out where the hospital is, and on the way to the hospital, find a shotgun, if you can't find any, detour to the nearest shopping district and get a shotgun. Also get a flashlight if you come across, but its not necessary. Also please bring some food if you want to survive.

2. Hurry to the hospital, the earlier you get there, the lower the chances that the folks in the hospital will get infected. If all the inhabitants of the hospital are infected, you might wanna start a new game, its just simply not worth the effort and ammo to get rid of the zombies in the hospital

3. Head down all to the corridor, get to the generator.

4. Now cautiously move around, Jason Myers should be somewhere, a flashlight helps, especially, to see a longer range.

5. When you see Jason Myers, RUN behind the fences and shotgun him, OR, if you are too far from the fences, run and shotgun him, shotgun almost never misses, and 3 shots will take down this madman. ALWAYS stay 1 at least 1 step away from Jason, he'll most likely insta kill you early in the game when you have low stats. Also if you think of meleeing please don't ever do that.

6. Turn on all the generators and head upstairs, the door is now open, get some loot. Also save before you head upstairs into the hallway after you've gotten your medkits.

Now this is highly dependent on the RNG, I had one run when I went down the hospital and everyone was alive, after turning on the generators and killing Jason Myers, I went up again to find EVERYONE infected. Lots of neophytes too.

If you encounter that, reload if you haven't prepared for the disaster. Your gonna need LOTS of medikits, also if your low on sleep, get some blue pills and eat them, you don't wanna be running through the hallways sleepy.

Now don't bother fighting, just RUN! If you have a wall of zombies blocking your way, try to step back a little, they might get out of formation. When you get to the top, leave the district unless you have a really good reason. That is because the zombies will pour out from the hospital and chase you.

Now get that axe and kite some zombies

Any way to get this to work on windows 7?

Save often, it's the only way to remedy freezes.
It also only seemed to freeze on my first 6 characters.
Also what version of W.7 are you running?I am running ultimate so that might be why mine hasn't been crashing too much now.

Actually, I doesn't work at all for me. Insta-crash, never even starts, 100% of the time.

Mine has the same insta-crash, but I'm using Vista home premium 32bit.

Oh I forgot to mention that if I leave rogue survivor for about 3 hours it will crash with a big red x on the screen of it.

Vista is a steaming cow dung pile so that explains the crash.

Still 100% crash rate. I'm not exactly sure what is causing this.

How the hell do you survive gangsters?!?I had char armor on and they still can damage half of my health with a light pistol.

I'm pretty sure you need to update the DirectX, could be wrong tho.
