Zuntir Alnis (The Anvil of War)
« on: August 22, 2010, 06:35:09 am »

The Glacial Silkiness perished first, slaughtered by Esrel Smallbaits the Phlegms of Ash and conquered by The Empire of Pets. They fell in turn to the predations of The Deciever of Spit and The Wickedness of Rasping.

A stranger to this world would say there are three civilisations in the world today - one dwarf, two goblin.

We seven know there is only one.

-----

Community fort time, everyone!

Our embark spot:

Our dwarves:

My calm demeanour and patience led to me being appointed unofficial leader of this expedition. Let's hope I'm ready for it.

Shockringed was always introverted at some level, and why he was appointed on the expedition is a mystery. His obsession with dralthas is worrying, as well...

Roofpage is an unsubtle type. Despite this, he has some level of charm to him, possibly because his sincerity makes him so trustworthy.

Bootgreenness seems like a natural second-in-command to me, being imaginative and nonconfrontational as opposed to his superior's traditional views and assertive manner. At the moment he's talking with me about our fortress' future defenses.

Veilpage seems to be a bit of a 'genki girl' - highly energetic and not particularly sensible. She certainly knows how to cheer us up, though. She's starting to get agitated about being stuck inside all this time, though.

Blizzardgorges is ostensibly our militia escort, although he doesn't seem all that tough. He's strong as an ox, though, and I can feel that he greatly cares about this expedition. Right now he's glaring at the trees, whispering something like "I'm onto you..." under his breath.

Cudgelscribed has been going on all day about the last expedition that the montainhomes launched. Most of what she says sounds like gibberish, like 'safety', 'planning' and 'precautions'. She's convinced she's in charge because of seniority, but she lacks the charisma for a regime change.

-----

Pick a dwarf to name. I'll also take suggestions for skills, but I have a fairly good idea of what I'm going to use.

I've chosen Bellschance, so hands off.  >:(

Notes
I may or may not have made some modifications to my raw files, so I'm going to upload my entire game folder rather than just the save, just in case. (Case in point: llamas.)

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Veilpage. Rename her to Kippy and as professions...either mechanics or glassworking, and one medical skill. You will need nurses, right ?  ;D

I'll take Shockringed, rename him Dariush and give him weaponsmithing and mechanics. Even though he's staying out of fights, he's still interested in art of war and complex traps and mechanisms  ;)

Well... Roofpage seems better to me from the remaining 2.
Name = Ott
Professions = Mining, Masonry, Mechanics
Oh and just to be sure... A community fort is a fort where 1 person actually plays the game but the others say what he/she should do next?

@ottottott: Yeah.

Anyway, I'll see what I can do jobs-wise. I tend to make highly efficient embarks, so you may not get your preferences.

EDIT: Unfortunately, Dariush, it's first-come first-served for jobs, so you're going to be carpenter.

Cudgelscribed is going to be our farmer. Embarking now so I don't lose the dwarves.

1st Granite, 101

We have arrived. Our wagon's rear axle has snapped, so we unfortunately can't position ourselves closer or further away from the river. The river drops dramatically at a small cliff edge, but it is quite rocky, and can be walked on without difficulty.

-----

No fancy overviews of the whole thing here, but there's a 1 z-level cliff to our left and a 1 z-level drop to our right. The brook's to our right, and it cuts through the cliff for a short space.

Aww man I can't make good jokes. I dug a hole to the bottom of the map so you would die if you enter and said someone to go in. He cheated though and jumped off at some point. Then he made an awesome pun. Do you really expect me to fall for that? Back to business! Deconstruct the cart and settle in the cliff at your right. Near the brook but not too near.

Right, I haven't had computer access for a little while, so I haven't gotten anywhere. Update later on.

1 more question that is rather off-topic. In the community games does that 1 person play all the time because somewhere I heard that after 1 year it's also passed on. Maybe he/she got succession and community mixed up though.

Personally, I think I might end up passing this on succession-fort style, as my computer is pretty fail and I rarely play for a full year anyway.

I'm trying to find the time to play, honest!

tl;dr: Feel free to ask to play next.
