Unable to get rid of "narrow" clothing
« on: November 13, 2006, 08:05:00 pm »

The goblins and kobolds which keep creeping into my fort (although never sieging in the new version) drop so much "narrow" or "small" or "giant" clothing (the latter from humans I think?) that I can't get rid of it, and the stupid dwarven stores keep stocking it instead of usable clothing. As a result, my dwarves cannot purchase the clothes I make myself, and instead my fort is cluttered up with unusable clothes. I give as many away to the dwarven caravan as possible but the weight limit is always reached very quickly. Is there some way to make the stores only stock usable clothes?

The ideal would be to make dwarves have no interest in acquiring narrow or large clothing.

It'd be nice if we could order the dwarves to just chasm things that don't fit.  It's annoying going through the menu trying to spot the pieces out of a 100+ page list.

Yeah, they are sold there because they are ownable and they are clothes.  But there should be a different kind of novelty store for those items so it doesn't tie up the practical store.

Ha, a novelty store? Like with dwarf leather boots for the more gothic customers? Or perhaps elf leather hats for those who are a little too xenophobic. Maybe some human-hide capes for my broker and bookkeeper, just to let the trade representative know I mean business.

The narrow items can be flagged for chasming in the stock screens(Bookkeeper). But there seems to be some minor issues with chasming the items that end up in the stores as toady mentioned. There are also some random errors im getting from unclaimed narrow items laying around the fort.

Oh yeah, some of the goblin siege items are a bit disgusting aren't they...  maybe they should bury them in tombs.  You can give your tomb space to all of the skins of the long dead.

Blah, I'm just bumping this since I'm sick of having to make tons of shops and having to rebuild them everytime they get filled with narrow clothing (chasming orders seem to be ignored when they're there).  All my dwarves are wearing tattered clothing and could not possibly care less about all this trashy narrow clothing all the shops seem to have =[

Chasming really doesn't work with them? That sucks because I really want to see shops work. I've never witnessed successful shopping/shop keeping, although that could be because its hard to see directly.

I feel bad for the shop owners who paid $700+ to buy a shop, then they stock it with crap no one can use, and never make any money.

Can you sell them to caravans?  I know you can before the economy, I just don't know about after.

Yeah, but when you open a store, they go into the store, and you can't get them out, except to destroy the store, wait for a caravan to come, then put them in it. In the meanwhile you can't have a shop, or they go righ back into it.
