The Dark.
« on: August 21, 2010, 05:04:35 am »

Your eyes open and are quickly greeted with a blinding light, you instinctively close your eyes and tilt your head to the side a little bit before squinting.
It takes a while, but slowly your eyes become use to the light.
Looking around you, you notice you are in a forest clearing, but the tops of trees still pierce your view. The sounds of birds can be heard.
It is now that you become suddenly aware of the immense pain originating from the back of your skull, you fel like screaming, but hold it and only let out a muffled grunt.
Touching the back of your head with your hand, you find traces of dried blood, there is none on the grass you lie upon though.
Standing up you examine yourself, and find that you are wearing a muddy brown leather jacket, a white t-shirt, some jeans, white socks and black shoes.
Searching your pockets you find that in your possession you have: A metal lighter, and a pencil, seems you wre unprepared...
But for what?

Then it hits you, your memories suddenly come flooding back and overwhelm you.
Your name is Jones Smith, you came here with a bunch of friends, seven if you remember correctly, after hearing a many stories about this fabled island and how no one has ever returned from visiting it after the 1980's.
Your arrival method was by boat, and promptly hot-wired a Ute as soon as you landed in the nearby car park, and drove following the road to the nearby town, which was at least five miles away from the dock, you cant remember though.
The town was deserted, as the stories have said, and the buildings were partly crumbling, there were even some charred buildings around.
After exploring the ghost town for a while, your group decide to go to the fabled white building in the centre of the island, you never reached there though.
Halfway to the centre of the island you were attacked by a group of... things! If you had to take a wild guess you would say that at least one of those things was a human albino!
Thats the last t hat you remember, then you woke up here...
One thing ns for sure though, you have to get off this island, with or without your friends, but you feel some loyalty to your friends and feel that you need to find them.

---

Long story short, you and seven friends decide to be idiots and go check out this island that is called haunted and has been deserted since the 1980's,with no one ever returning   after venturing there.
Your objective is to escape the island, with or without your friends. If you die you take control of a different person out of the 8 survivors.

This is a text suggestion game, and pretty much a sort of sequel to " You are in a dark room".

Good luck...

...

...

...

..

...
Oh and you will need to be careful, way more careful this time around, your decisions shall impact the game and will decide your final ranking.

Head back out towards the beach!

Your first thoughts at this situation is to "head back out towards the beach!"
There are two problems with that, which you can clearly see:
1.) You have no clue which direction the beach is.
2.) You have no clue where YOU are, except in the forest that surrounds the island...

"Screw it all to hell!" you think to yourself, then close your eyes, spin around five times, and point in a direction.
You then follow that direction, which conincidently seems to be into denser growth.

It has been an hour, or so you think, and you have barely gotten a mile due to the difficulty of moving through the undergrowth and climbing up and down hills.
All you have seen along the way is trees, trees, more trees, and some strange plants.
The sky has darkened now, the sun has fallen a bit from high noon.

You don't have much experience in climbing, especially without any help, but you eventually climb the tree.
From the top of the tree, all you can see is extensive forestry in all directions, except for a continuous break in the canopy at what you would guess to be a mile from your position. Using your head, you figure out that it must be a road.
Following the road with your eyes you discover a smoke trail coming from past the horizon.
The wind blows and drowns out any other sounds that you could hope to hear.

You also spy a slight trail through the forest only a few meters from your position.

------
Please note, this island is rather large, i wont say how large, but it is rather large (not like a country size but rather like, a large tropical island)

(Before any of you ask, no, this is not "Lost"...)

You slowly descend from the tree, reaching the bottom you go the exact opposite direction from the smoke.
Walking for approximately another hour, only getting as far as another mile, you are rather worn out now, coincidently you can see what you presume to be the road a few meters away.
The smoke is still visible through the canopy, but only slightly, it does not seem to be moving and only originating from one position and dissipating.

Peek out of growth and look carefully both ways.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

you stick your head out of the undergrowth and look down both ways of the road.
Nothing can be seen other than the cracks in the road and forest, as well as the smoke coming from your left hand side.

A slight rumbling can be heard in the distance, though you are unable to place it exactly.
It is getting darker.

Go towards smoke, hide if you see something.

You slowly walk down the winding road for what seems like an eternity, by the time you even come within sight of the origin of the smoke, it is already night time.

Hooting can be heard in nearby trees, the occasional rustling, but nothing else.
The smoke seems to be coming from inside a town.
There are no visible lights other than a little illuminate from what you would assume would be a fire.

Small one story buildings are the only things in this town, other than the occasional two story houses, nothing grand though, all of them at least look a little worn down and faded, while some are completely reduced to rubble.
The paths have plant life growing in them.
