I hid. No use getting killed by Lucifer, and it looked like Peter had this well in hand anyways. I settled to watch, hoping to learn something.
I wish I hadn't.
Peter took a swipe at Lucifer with his blade, but Satan dodged, laughing the most evil laugh unimaginable. Lucifer stabbed with his trident, toying with Saint Peter as if he were nothing. I couldn't see their faces clearly, but Peter smashed the trident away with his sword and shouted at Lucifer. The sound traveled accross the air in a wave, decimating the ruins of whatever city this was. Lucifer just stood there and took it.
He pointed the tainted trident at Peter. He said one word, a word I couldn't quite make out. Peter spat in his face. Then a beam of purple darkness shot from his trident, impaling Peter through the ribcage. His flesh dissolved, leaving a brilliant white light behind. Satan took a swipe with the trident, and the light dispersed like smoke and began to descend.
Peter. Saint Peter. He was... Dead.
A saint had been damned.
What the hell was going on here.
I shrunk back into my hiding spot, praying to God he wouldn't find me. But from what I had just witnessed, there didn't seem to be alot of hope he'd answer. Behind me I felt a book. I drew it in front of me and glanced at the cover. A bible.
It disintigrated in my hands.
Satan looked right at me. I saw his eyes narrow. I felt my heart beat quickly, I pressed even farther back, hoping to look like some innocent human. I seemed to succeed, but Satan winged over to my little hiding spot lazily.
"Why hello there, little one." He said, his voice like dark rain in a murky puddle. It seemed to sparkle with deadly power and authority. It was the voice of a truely evil. His face was vain, but beautiful. It was the true face of evil. Seductive.
I remembered that face. He stood far back so as not to kill me with his taint, but I could hear that voice as if he stood next to me. I shivered a bit. I couldn't tell if it was fear, or pleasure.
But what, if anything, could I say? What could I do? My wings were apparently obscured, but how long would that last against someone who could damn Saint Peter? What could I do? I felt powerless, mortal. Here I was, a minor... Thing! I wasn't even aligned.
Maybe that saved me. When Satan pouted, I felt like I would simultaniously throw up and sqeal in ecstasy. When he smiled, it looked feral and matronly at the same time. This was a man of infinite evil, and a devil of incredible power. Unlike the demons, Devils were fallen angels. I was a devil once, a weak one. Now I was something else, something loose.
I was neutral. I was grey.
I needed to talk.

you have the ability to consume souls. Doing so gives you more power, but diminishes your divinity.
