Red-cyan anaglyph 3d
« on: August 19, 2010, 03:00:30 pm »

So I picked up some 3d glasses to watch vids like this (though iz3d drivers may have something to do with it). Well anyway my problem is that image is way too red and sort of confusing (but that depends on picture, some are very sharp and 3d is nice though still weirdly coloured). When I look with one eye through blue I see some red parts (from what I could gather its called ghosting). I tried to bring down red in screen options but when I did that I had ghosting in other eye  >:(. Did anyone use such glasses and can give me some tips how to make it work or is it supposed to be so red?

I watched that cross-eyed. I didnt realize i could actually watch 3d pictures like that.

Anyway, did you try out all the different coloured options. At least with other 3d pictures(didnt bother to dig my glasses out) all colour was turned off. Basically through the non red eye, I saw red as completely black.

This whole push to 3D video infuriates me.
Not really anger at the technology itself but at the circumstances that put me in this position to begin with.
That's a bit of a personal story, so I won't go into it here, but I digress...
I, nor anyone with lack of vision in one eye, nor people with misaligned images, nor people lacking depth of field (for whatever reason), etc, cannot see any of this 3D business.
We're a surprisingly large portion of the market share.  So any push to make it mandatory..  I just don't see it going over well.

Indeed. You aren't the first I have heard of with such a problem. It probably won't be mandatory though, due mostly to the high costs associated with it both directly (new $300 monitor required and $200 glasses) and indirectly (twice the graphics processing to be done, needing better video cards).

Wah wah digital television.

I need a pair of red/blue glasses so I can play Minecraft and Mount and Blade in... THREE DEE!

Where do you buy those things anyway?

I'm annoyed at the push to 3D and I'm not even one-eyed or anything like that. I just think it's irresponsible and gimmicky. Christ, they can hardly get two-dimensional things right. Plus movies milk it so hard its teats are bursting. They fuck up the composition of pretty much every shot just to shove it in your face constantly (pun intended).

They sell for two dollars at any party store, sometimes you can find them in the random stuff isle of a supermarket.

Two hundred dollars for a pair of 3D glasses? If I didn't know any better I'd say you were ripped off.

Those are the Nvidia ones, that come with the pyramid and whatnot, made especially for gaming. And i agree with most sentiments, due to my impaired vision i never saw what it looked like and i loathe movies that are made only to look good in 3d without anything real to back it up, movie tech demos so to speak (guess which one i hate the most), games not so much since there aren't many that use the technology, and if they do it's optional, when it becomes mandatory i will rage, for now i'm ignoring it

I think he's talking about the alternate-frame method of 3D rendering.

Good point about party stores. There's a teacher's aid store I should hit up, it has Settlers of Catan if rumors hold true.

Also I saw Avatar in 2D and thought it was pretty good camera-wise. There were a few shots I could tell were set up for the 3D effect, but otherwise it seemed good.

I heard Avatar was nothing more than a tech demo, I've yet to watch it though.
