23rd Felsite

The goblins are fleeing and it is all down to Tosid and Aban: the one armed marksdwarf. After seeing where the goblins were gathered, I ordered a mason to build a ramp up onto wall sheltering the front gate. From here the marksdwarf squad rained the fury of armok himself that drove the goblin menace away! In their panic to flee one of the goblins stepped on the preassure plate that activates the bridge trap over the Bronze colossus and fell into the pit (how?). I promptly ordered it’s release and it beat the snot out of the goblin and her Giant toad mount.

glad to see the trapped worked. the colossus got a chance to actually kill something finally. Also might be fun to set up a pit for that area and drop animals down for population control.

22nd Malachite
The past few weeks have been very slow, so I decided recently to move onto more of my projects. This latest one was my tomb, for any good Fortress Overseer looks to even after his death let alone one that is also the militia commander, and I had found that it was tiring knowing that I had no proper place where I would spend the eternal rest. So I had my tomb dug out. It would not be as grand a tomb as what Xenos has, but I would be buried surrounded by Armok’s blood! So I could be warm in the after life and any prospective grave robbers would have to cross a magma moat to reach me.
But tragically, Atir, our wood burner who had recently taken up mining could not run fast enough before the magma caught up with him and managed to stumble a few steps before passing away due to the blood-loss caused by this. This was made even worse by the amount of friends he has (8 ). I will have to watch for signs of unrest in the next few days because a tantruming dwarf can spell the end of life, as we know it.

27th Malachite
My interests for the fortress’ defense has ended in another project to do with the military. The last siege we defeated was defeated due to the Goblins not being able to retaliate to our marksdwarves’ attack. If we tried to repeat this against a full squad of bow goblins in the future as they would cut down our exposed soldiers in seconds. To remedy this, I have converted the bridge into a fortified gatehouse to house our marksdwarves in the case of an attack.

4th Galena
With summer pressing on, the expectation of merchants is growing and with this I decided to seek out the finished goods stockpile to see what we had. To my surprise I found that the original furniture stockpile was also the goods stockpile. Not happy about this at all I immediately converted half the underused gem stockpile into a goods stockpile to help any future overseers in inspecting our goods.

In other news I finally found out what was causing the smoke to rise out of the magma dump.
Apparently, I ordered for coal to be dumped down there and now it is on  fire. But I don’t understand how it has been continuously burning for months now…

7th Galena
With the great popularity of the first arena match, a new one was organized! This time, it is a 2 Vs 2 fight between Analog III and his squad-mate Bomrek Idoszas against Bosa Stasostgug (tickticks) and Olngo Smulabax (Urgenightmares) both hammer gobs. This was a fair fight, the goblin still retained all their original gear so it would be a test of our military’s skills.
The bell was sounded and the combatants rushed at each other to a great roar of the (imaginary) crowd. The fight was almost a disaster because at Bosa’s first strike smashed Bomrek’s arm into a pulp! Fearing the worst I ran for my spear but it was not needed. Unfazed by his partner’s downing, Analog retaliated by lopping off first the arm, then the leg of Olngo to great cheers from the crowd. Turning on Bosa he traded blows for a few minutes before finding his opponent’s head with his axe.

The fight over I talked to the doctor about Bomrek’s arm. But the doctor said that was only a break and nothing a little bone setting couldn’t solve.

11th  Galena
The work my room atop the tower is slowing to a crawl. It is only half done and we are running out of red stone to use so I ordered the miners to dig out a patch of Bauxite near the tower for the hauler to take up later.

13th Galena
As expected, human merchant were spotted on the edge of our land today. We are moving goods to the trade depot in anticipation.

17th Galena
The merchants have arrived at the depot! So we all know where our trader is. I swear that this always happens with every fortress’ broker

18th Galena
Seemingly inspired by the presence of humans a dwarf told me that another dwarf called Stinthad Gusgashlogem was in the grip of a fey mood recently. I didn’t properly recognize the name until I realized it was my old training partner! The same one that had lost the use of his legs! Apparently he is dragging his way down to the workshop level even as I write now. It seems the only thing a dwarf needs to become active again is a little inspiration.

21st Galena
Stinthad begins his construction! I saw he was working furiously at a rough Lace Agate before he slammed the door to the workshop closed. I an eagerly anticipating what he will create.

23rd Galena
Oprian finally got off his fat dwarven buttocks to trade today. Knowing that our fort is mostly self sufficient, the only thing I asked him to get was sand and dye because I am interested in it. He boasted to me later he got all this for a single steel toy boat and he could do this because he was so legendary at it.

6th Limestone
Stinthad is finished! He shouted out that he had created Rabudar Kadol Isan (Glowedrain the Gem of Stilling) a lace agate Figurine. I must say it is one of the most uncanny representations of our queen I have ever seen. It is just a shame that Stinthad will refuse to use his new-found skills in favour of having everything brought to him for free.

17th Limestone
Nothing much has happen in the last few weeks. The only thing of note is that we had another 2 goblins die in the arena. This time to the Waves of painting. It was not much of a fight, just more of an execution by firing squad.

25th Limestone
I have decided that the engravers have no long projects at the moment and our fort has an inordinate amount of un-smoothed surfaces. I told the engravers to rectify this problem which they have dived into with great gusto.

1st sandstone
A new month, a new arena match. But disasters struck Kogsak when a lucky spear strike smashed his foot badly and he lost all ability to stand. I fear for his future as a military dwarf

13th sandstone
To avenge another arena match is organized, but it is the shortest one yet. A one on one affair, Adil stepped forwards and sank his axe into the goblin’s stomach before decapitating the said goblin with his second strike. Our military are becoming a fore to be reckoned with.
Also, to my great relief I have seen Kogsak on his feet again in the training halls. The doctors have done a sterling job of healing his broken foot and I am grateful for that.

3rd Timber
My room on top of the tower is finished and just in time for the winter as it draws in. The brook has already frozen over and we all have to draw our cloaks tighter around us.

14th Timber
We have held the largest arena match so far with a 6 dwarf Vs 5 goblin brawl. Me, Durtan, Analog III, Bomrek and two swordsdwarves stepped into the arena. We all had a pre battle chuckle as Goden turned up clutching a barrel of booze. We all know his priorities in life.

The match was a great success for Analog III as he slew 3 out of the 5 enemy participants. The only loss on our side was Goden’s dog who had followed him into the match. This has earned him the title Leaguepillars the Red Apogee.

15th Timber
Merchants from the mountainhomes were spotted on the edge of our territory today. Again I ordered our goods to be hauled out and this time Oprian needs to eat and drink before seeing the merchants. I swear he avoids all possible opportunities to work. Lazy son of a…

Here's the next update. I should be able to get the last one done by Sunday at the latest so the next person can have their turn in a few more days

1st granite:
Looking around, I find this fortress rather... different.
I notice that our metal bars and coke are very far the the forges.
I order to have this rectified
9th granite:
Our mayor had one of our millitia commanders arrested for not making native aluminum items.
...
>_>
13th granite:
I have found more of that luxurious adamantine.
16th granite:
A clothier withdraws from society...
28th granite:
More migrants. Guaranteed to ruin my FPS even further!
5th slate:
He begins working...
Without one of the items he grabbed(platinum nuggets)
I accidentally forbid it >_<
9th slate:
It is finished.

It's worth 568440
Also what the hell happened to the marble block he was using.

25th slate:
I have mined all the adamantine I feel can be safely mined.
14th felsite:

So we now have two forgotten beasts underground
18th hematite:

OH FUCK(I was trying to remove an up/down stair that could allow a flying creature into the fortress)
18th hematite:
A child apparently was possessed and isn't claiming any workshops
21st hematite: Goodbye, forgotten beast!
Also the corpse alone clutters the butchers shop(So it displays *CLT*)
28th hematite:
More... migrants. Also the corpse still hasn't been butchered
10th malachite:
The corpse was finally butchered.
So... much... food... ._.
I have also began construction of a tomb for  me

It wasn't all that interesting, really, other then the fact that it chased around a dwarf until a militia captain came, attacked a couple times and then the beast one shotted the militia captain when it got a chance. A spearman came and then killed it in one shot.

7th galena:

I had absolutely no idea that could happen
15th galena:
A human caravan arrives!
13th sandstone:
A mechanic has been possessed!
19th sandstone:

A forgotten beast to replace the old one...
12th timber:
An dwarven caravan comes!
18th timber:

But... he never grabbed any iron bars or anything like that.(The first item was raw adamantine)
I'm going to deconstruct the weapon trap in one of the dining rooms(it has an artifact bow in it) and then reconstruct it with this mechanism.
It's worth 848400.
