You can also get cannibal without lunatic in the Reaper's Due DLC if you're secluded with courtiers and food stores start to get low, it'll give you a cannibal option if someone with the gluttonous trait steals some food.

I'm trying to do the complete game achievement thing (play entire game from Charlemagne to the end), this time in France so it'd be less boring.

It's certainly less boring.

1. Charlemagne died in battle against Karloman, leaving the two Francias separated with me in the middle as I was the count of Orleans.
2. Charlemagne's successor made me Duke of Orleans for... some... reason. Also gave me vassals from all across the Kingdom.
3. I conquered Paris and made it my new capital. I petitioned for the duchy of Valois and I got it in exchange for a favour.
4. I killed the successor, giving Karloman both kingdoms, hoping this would protect us (and especially me) against all the Viking, Saxon, and Muslim invasions that threaten us.
5. Karloman got replaced in a faction revolt. Kingdom of Francia collapsed. Now it's W. Francia, Australasia (?), Burgundy, and Aquitaine. Border gore up the arse. My lands got split into two or three I can't even remember any more. I basically was a great duke with no lands, only Paris and Orleans.
6. Everything going fucky. Vikings took over Normandy. Muslims took over Aquitane. I'm panicking as I'm collapsing under all the viking incursions, raids, and wars that my idiot kings are fighting over. Since I'm smack dab in the middle of everyone, there's not even a second where my holdings are not under siege.
7. Germany comes in now, conquers Saxony. Starts poking at W. Francia and by extension, me.
8. I manage to reclaim all my lands somehow and immediately declare independence to free myself from all this nonsense. With my holdings of all of central France (or Gaul I guess at this point), I'm as powerful as any king in the area and nobody dares to mess with me other than the viking raiders.
9. Fucking camp fever epidemic rolls through, lasts for 20 years!!!!! Everyone I know is dead. I am dead. Repeatedly.
10. The goddamn arsehole dukes of Australasia install me as King of Australasia. Now I have to deal with all their shit and the revolts and the goddamn Germans and the Vikings. I don't have enough men, shit is nuts.
11. The same goddamn arsehole dukes now declare rebellion to increase council power. I give them what they want. Also I change the election laws for the Kingdom to elective so they can elect someone else and I can go back to being grand duke without having to deal with all this shit.
12. W. Francia takes advantage of all this and declares war on MY HOLDINGS. PARIS AND ORLEANS!!!! They win too since I cannot handle them. I lose my home.
13. Round two of Camp Fever baby. Everyone dies. Again. Why is Camp Fever so horrible in France.
14. I'm duke of Orleans and Valois without actually owning any land in those duchies. I create a faction to declare independence from Australasia. Invite a bunch of other wankers (the descendents of the people who invited me to be king) and we become free after a short war. I immediately pledge fealty to W. Francia.
15. Conquer back my homelands of Orleans and Paris from the counts who control it.
16. Kill the asshole queen who stole my lands in the first place.
17. This whole time I forgot about the Muslims, they jihaded their way all the way up to goddamn Brittany. I only noticed when Berry turned orange all of a sudden. I'm sweating bricks.
18. I realize the only way to fight off the Muslims is to actually be united instead of this disasterous mess we have right now with 4 Kingdoms all broken up all over the place with a whole bunch of independent counts and dukes.
19. Take control of W. Francia easily enough, I still am the grand duke of Orleans and Valois after all. Immediately start imprisoning and revoking lands like the tyrant I am.
20. Absorb the other minor nations around me. Since we've been at this stupid game and dance for about 300 years now, my family basically has claims on every single centimeter of land in the region.
21. Form the Empire of Australasia, after which I use my son's claim on the Kingdom of Aquitane to absorb it into the Empire. After that I form Francia and dissolve Australasia.
22. Guess who's back. Camp Fever motherfuckerrrrr!!!! Everyone dies. Again. Plans ruined. I'm now Queen of France (not Francia, France). Emperor is a fucking goddamn Capet. Really? Where the hell did he come from?! Empire is divided into me and Aquitane basically. Aquitane is owned by my bastard son's bastard son who formed a new noble line, the ungrateful shit. The Capet Emperor only owns like a county and a barony.
23. Crusade time! I do all the heavy lifting even though I'm just Queen and not Emperor. I'm hoping to get a nice chunk of France back. We win.
24. Pope gives all of the spoils to Scotland.

I didn't disable it. Charlemagne died in a battle super early on, rendering the entire thing moot.

I still occasionally see the stuff about Saxons razing Germanic temples and stuff from the Charlemagne stuff.

Today, while trying to go for a Caliphate Strikes Back (plus the achievement for going from Stamford Bridge to the game's end, and however many others I manage along the way) that, when you seclude yourself and capture the woman in the tunnels, it's a very good idea to kill her outright. Imprisoning her led to peasants storming the castle via the tunnels and my Caliph losing a leg.

I don't know how it works now, but I think it was warscore contribution- but maybe with a bonus if you lost a lot of men.  I seem to remember people saying that if your troops *WERE grossly slaughtered, you could be considered a greater contributer.

Also if you died in the war, your warscore is separate from that of your heir. Fortunately that is going to change with the next patch.

I've actually found that fighting gives a much higher warscore than besieging in Great Holy Wars. If I want whatever is up for grabs, I usually pool all my guys together and send 'em off fighting, splitting them if there's going to be issues with attrition.

It's the year 979. So around 40 years or so since point 24. I'm still the same character who at this point might as well be called Queen Elizabeth as she's been ruling for over 70 years now.

25. The Capet Emperor died to Camp Fever and was replaced by some no name baron from the outskirts of Burgundy called Geraud Hetanid. The very first thing he does when he comes to power is make it impossible for any vassal to declare any war. He is now my arch nemesis as I basically can't do anything.
26. Francia prospers under the Hetanid emperor but I fume and growl in anger. Everyone loves Geraud except me. The country enters a golden age, the Muslims and Germans are beaten back, I sit around and do nothing because I'm not allowed to do anything.
27. Basically nothing happens for 15 years or so before Geraud dies. He was so well loved I could nothing against him. His son, Geraud II is elected Emperor, giving us a second Hetanid emperor.
28. Thankfully, Geraud II decides to allow vassals to declare war on targets outside the empire, so I can finally press some more of my family's claims.
29. Geraud II is still pretty popular, but not as popular as dad. I start a faction to increase council power. However, Geraud finds out and blackmails me from it.
30. With nothing to do, I ask Geraud to give me some extra land. I figure it'll at least piss him off. However, in a shock decision, he actually gives me some land.
31. With the favour for giving me the land, Geraud II forces my (female) heir to marry his eldest son. I'm already 60 or so at this point, I can't have more kids. I cannot cancel this arrangement as it's made with a favor. The motherfucker outplayed me!
32. I plot to kill Geraud, as I hope it will cancel the favor and let me break the betrothal. However, a drunkard reveals my plot and all the plotters leave. Also Geraud II really hates me now.
33. After spending thousands of wealth on this idiotic assassination plot with it going nowhere, I give up and change my target. I plot to kill his son instead and succeed within a few months perfectly. Geraud II does not know who had his son killed.
34. With his son and heir dead, the electors of Francia now all have only one choice to elect for Emperor of Francia. Me.
35. Geraud II dies quietly in his bed, naturally, a few years later at age 55, putting me at 70 years old as Empress of Francia and putting our house back in the throne after an absence of 52 years. I survived two Emperors who died of old age.
36. This looks to be super easy as I am extremely well loved due to the Legendary Wisdom trait, the Respected Ruler Trait, and all the other misc stuff you collect after 72 years of life. I replace all the vassal kings with family members so that there will always be another one of us on the throne no matter who gets elected in the future.
37. Finish conquering the remains of Muslim Spain.
38. Pope calls a crusade on Jerusalem. My character has lived so long she's now taken part in two crusades.
39. Black Death comes. I send 25,000 vassal troops to go and commit suicide in Jerusalem and none of my demense troops. Because of the Black Death, Syria can't put up any sort of defense at all but my 25,000 troops completely die to 2000 within 2 weeks of landing there.
40. We win and the Pope gives Jerusalem to me. I give the whole thing to a family member and give them independence.
41. Black Death has reached Paris. Everyone is dying.

I must say, while elective is really bad for powergaming, it's really fun when you're just faffing about.

I will laugh if your empress survives the Black Death as well.  It would be really unlikely, but she'd pretty much be your world's Charlemagne, since our world's died.

She survived without getting infected, even though I was trying my best to get her infected so I could get the achievements. All her children survived too, somehow. About 100 other family members died though and the family went from 130 living members to about 30.

She herself died at the age of 77, a few years after all those events. She died of depression after her third husband + lover was murdered by an overly zealous chaplain who was hunting for Satan worshippers on her orders.
