My friends loved hearing about him.

That -1 per 100 years "reigned too long" seems like a deliberate joke, I bet they added it with immortality.  But hard to be sure since 100 years of reigning would have been super rare previously, outside of mods.  I guess users of Elder Kings or various magic mods would have seen it.

Immortality tags has existed for quite a while already, they just haven't been used in the vanilla game until now (they were added for the benefit of modders). So who knows.

Are you secretly a champion of nurgle?
Ghenghis Khan may be Doombreed but this guy is Scabeiathrax.

You guys might be on to something there. I mean, before he was Saoshyant, he was still... Khagan Tengri Bogu "the Fat".

Minor question, how many living members of his dynasty are there?

That's an interesting question.

Before, it would constantly hover around 70 - 80 members. I was stuck for quite awhile wondering why this was the case, as he has so many children. However, there were two factors.

1. Disease kills practically everyone right now.
2. Nomads don't have holdings. This means other than the Khagan, all the other members have effectively no rank and are thus really low priority for marriages.

So this was resolved about a hundred years ago. Basically what I did was create enclaves of actual settlements and put as many dynastic members as I could in all of them. So we end up with these little islands of civilization here and there in the middle of vast swaths of plains. And in these islands, all the dynasty members constantly intermarry and commit incest with one another like one big happy, Zoroastrian family.

So now there's about 140-ish.

Probably doesn't help that unlanded courtiers can't make decisions of their own, so all your unlanded kids can't decide to get married on their own. Micromanaging spouses for your kids gets old fast after all, especially when you're able to take multiple wives/concubines.

The biggest benefit of giving your family little fiefs of their own to run is that they take responsibility for their own damn kids. It's nice to have the option of extending the dynasty in such a way without having the micromanage it so damn much. It does lead to weird moments when I realize that seemingly every Kaiser of the HRE in my game has a bride of my dynasty, and when family members go off to achieve great things without me forcing greatness upon them: my brother somehow became Pope, and some random guy from my dynasty just raised an army to claim the Teutonic Order in his name (I think he's winning, too). I also have a cousin whom I managed to indirectly put on the throne of Norge by pressing his Mother's claim (who incidentally HATES MY GUTS because I took his titles away before he ripped half of Sicily from my grasp by accident. Oh well).

Tell me more about these islands of civilization.

The time is coming to cease this charade. The world needs only one Lord. Take from them their bastions of sedentary life.

Let it all burn.

As I watched the Ride of the Rohirrim clip, I imagined the blind, infirm, lumpy, crazy True Horse Lord in the scene himself, strapped to his horse as he gave his rallying speech to the space between his men and the enemy, raising his sword and riding down the line, accidentally tapping everyone's weapons as he went.

I have a game going where I started as House Cerdicing (petty kings of Wessex in 769). I now control an HRE that includes all of Brittania, Francia, Germania, Italia, most of Scandinavia, and Lithuania. The last eight Popes have all been Cerdicings, and that's without me even meddling in Church affairs. I like to think they just keep electing them to keep on my good side.

Bit weird though in that England remained Anglo-Saxon (and will remain so, now that the Norsemen have been pacified and all France lies under the Anglo-Saxon yoke, hence no Norman culture and thence no English culture). So many Oswealds and Wulfgars and Saexbalds...

EDIT: Anyone else noticing a problem with defensive pacts after the latest patch? They're still forming, but they don't intervene at all. I'm at 95% threat, and yet when I'm thinking of declaring war, it only shows the target's immediate allies as getting involved (and this holds up to the test). Wondering if it has to do with forming the HRE, and/or switching to an Imperial administration as well...

Also, knowing what DLC will be useful, since it could be pagans or some shit.

Yeah, there could be a lot of reasons why.
