Oh. The trailer didn't tell me much, so I assumed it was expanded on in pictures.

Eh. Whatever. Stuff'll start showing up on the subreddit eventually :P

As a note, I think China is not in the map expansion, but since China was pretty important for the mongols, I can bet it will be in a future DLC.

Given that it includes the silk road...which was a major cultural trade route...I can't imagine they have not included at least the fringe territories of China in some way with some Chinese culture/events. If I had to guess I would think they have taken that large area above India that is greyed out and added provinces there and/or made provinces more numerous to the north of that instead of the current huge swaths of like 10 provinces.

There's a dev diary now.

Apparently, nomad won't care for normal holdings. You'll still be able to have them, but they are more useful as vassals to extract money from. Instead, there is a new number next to money, prestige and such: population. Population goes up the more empty holding you have in provinces you own. Terrain also matters, with steppes being the best.

A fraction of that population is your manpower. You use it to raise troops that act like the retinues. Steppe war is also different: as long as you occupy a province, you own it. If you build a fort, you "lock it down", but it still doesn't give much warscore.

There is, however, one holding that does matter for nomads: the capital. Each clan can only have on of those, but there are a lot of upgrades for it. Losing a capital often means losing a war, but you can also relocate that capital to wherever you want, buildings and all.

But that is not all, it seems. If a horde loses all provinces, it is not completely beaten. Any surviving armies remain on the map, and can try to conquer a province. You'll also be able to switch to feudal/republic like tribes if you wish to.

That first character honestly looks like a woman wearing a fake mustache.

There's a reason I liked Sartaq Khan :) Passing on the DLC, though, due to cost.

I'll be fine, in a few months it'll be like $3 anyway.

That was my exact though.  It reminded me of the stoning scene in Life of Brian.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I have never seen a more compelling argument for buying a DLC at launch ;)

Goddamnit.

Playing HIP. I have a bunch of allies in the HRE, including the Duke of Verona. I'm the duke of Zahringen, I own Kuernring in the Osterreich as well as Habsburg in Zahringen, and I'm the vassal of the King of Schwaben. I go to declare war to pull one of the counts in my de jure realm into my control. The count is a vassal of Schwaben as well.

I can't ask for ANY of my allies to join the war, but this fucker sure as hell can. None of either of our allies are vassals of the King, but all are vassals of the Kaizer. (OR EVEN OF OTHER DUKES/KINGS who are vassals of the Kaizer!) ALL four of his allies joined, I can't even ask for any of my allies, and the tooltip doesn't say why. I'm thinking it's because they're not vassals of my direct liege, which means that the AI gets to ignore a rule that I don't even have direct knowledge is a thing but is still tying my hands.

As usual, my hype for this latest expansion rests entirely on the implications for the Game of Thrones mod. Khal Drogo shall live!
