If your playing old gods, then no its not. Why are you even playing old gods if your a newbie anyways?
The only thing that having the DLC changes is the ability to play as pagans. If you have the latest version of the game, which you should, the raids will still happen.

CK2 plus all DLCs are 75% off on Steam, it's a great opportunity to pick up the game or some DLC that you've wanted.

I should take The Old Gods, for some reason it appears to not be included in the big DLC package.
Damn, steam should be clearer on what DLC you got or not. And class them by importance.

Yeah, the steam interface is horrible. You should be able to put something in the cart from the list of DLC, without having to go to the DLC page itself. You should also see what you already got in the list. GoG.com does this a lot better.

TOG might not be a part of the DLC package, but it sure is 75% off.

I almost wonder if Steam put the wrong appid on sale, since TOG is on sale and Songs of Byzantium isn't, for no apparent reason. Usually the major DLCs haven't been on sale this quickly.

I also found weird that this particular DLC wasn't on sale.
No matter, I bought all the DLC that weren't included in the package. Got them all now.

If it wasn't I think it would have been fixed by now. Either way Steam doesn't take the thing away from your hands if they screw up, history tells us.

But yeah, I don't like the DLC adding interface thing too. It's annoying.

While this is good, the fact that Steam apparently has access to my brainwaves is a bit concerning.

Which DLCs are worth buying?

ie add significant content or make major changes.

Legacy of Rome, The Republic, Sword of Islam and The Old Gods are the "expansion DLC" that allow you to play previously locked nations/new content.

The rest are cosmetic and only the face packs are really all that noticeable.

Thanks for the list, and thanks to Steam for accidentally discounting the newest expansion.  Got it all for under £15.

Well, unless you count making a whole nation fucking ugly in the case of some worse packs.

I found out that the mediterranean face pack can actually look pretty good with some mods (VIET, for example). I was actually quite surprised.
