I want this game so bad.  :P

It's 20e for the base game, 40e with all expansions on Steam (and similar low prices in whatever heathen currency you may use). What's stopping you?

No money. I'm gonna get it this friday though.

I find that sloppy succession can be just as boring. Putting down a claimant revolt or six every few years is pretty trivial as an empire and gets old pretty quickly for me. The game does seriously lack an "end game" and all you can really do is go for a world conquest which is a slow and tedious operation when there's nothing to match your strength.
There's usually just that point where you have so much gold, prestige and manpower that you just can't lose without some really bad playing on your part.

I have no idea how you could make an empire engaging without just making it a tedious volatile powder keg of revolts. I suppose maybe you could add more domestic options. It could be nice to be able to move towards a more enlightened society and even have some of the political and social reforms that marked the renaissance. Perhaps some mechanics should be taken from EU:Rome so you could have a nation move towards a more administrative society.

Adding alliances so weaker states would team up against you when they see you growing would do the trick I think.

Well, pushing for maximum Crown Authority, Free Investiture and max taxes for all is a decent challenge.

Huh... I did not know you could educate children who were your prisoner. I got a few of an opponent's kids in a siege and educated them myself. Now they like me and they are 'happy with upbringing' despite being in house arrest in a foreign country.

To be fair, CK2 doesn't really have a good endgame because, objectively, it's not much of a game. All it is, is a dynasty simulator. ANy of the actual game aspects are pretty much automated. The only real gameplay to CK2 is to see what you can do with your dynasty in the game's timeframe. There is no "you win" condition because, even if you do conquer the world, the game won't end until the end date anyway I believe.

It's the best kind of brainwashing. I found a 14-year-old Makedon in my dungeon and decided to educate her... so I can have a happy concubine when she comes of age. Sadly, it wouldn't let me take her as concubine (possibly I hit some sort of limit).

Or the game decided that it's way too creepy for its' 9-year-old killing taste.

Personally I plan to import my russian empire game into EU3 when I hit the end date and continue it as far as possible, to victoria 2 and possibly HOI if I can get the conversion to work.

You are limited to 3 concubines I believe.

Does anyone know what defines a 'nubile concubine'? You get extra prestige for each one you have, but at what age does 'nubile' cease?

Presumably at whatever age is the end of fertility. 45 by default, I think.

Is there a point? I mean, you'll have achieved near-world conquest at the end of a single EU game.

Yeah. Of all the paradox games, I believe EU3 is one of the easiest to world-conquest by the end of the timeframe, especially if you chose to ignore infamy. If you happen to carry a massive empire from CK2, it won't be much of a contest. If you want fun later games, you'll have to limit yourself until Victoria and HOI which as far as I know are harder to steamroll.

I tend to roleplay, so yes for me there is a point. World conquest isn't my goal generally. Hell the last king I had (through unfortunate circumstances) was a craven naive appeaser so I, roleplaying, ended up compromising on wars and giving up land to keep the peace. His heir, a warmongering tyrant with cruel and arbitrary traits, was an unholy terror.

Might want to wait until it goes on sale, Paradox stuff periodically goes on sale for dirt cheap.  I imagine there will be a fall sale.
