Secret Bears

Personally I hope we get DLC that adds more events/interactions within your own dynasty. In a game focused on dynasties it would be nice to have more things that happen involving your family members. The Old Gods had your sons going off to join the Varangian guards, more stuff like that would be cool.

There'll probably be a theocracy/papacy DLC at some point I guess.

I just learned that a Great Blot's a good way to finish off a failed revolution.  Boost your prestige/piety and clear out some disgruntled nobles.

Also vikings.  Fuck yeah.  Vikings.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to get Hearts of Iron 3?  How does it compare to CK 2?

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

It's nothing like it, HoI3 is a war-simulator and doesn't do the political/internal side of things as well as other games. I'd say go with Darkest Hour if you wanted a paradox ww2 taste, especially considering mods like Kaiserreich and FODD.

Is it possible to take noble prisoners during viking raids?  I found the ancestors (by 200 years or so) of the last dynasty I played and I have this morbid urge to kill them.

You can. I regularly sacrifice both the Pope and the Basileus at the same blot.

How do you do it?  I completely trashed his county but I didn't get any prisoners.

You have to siege the province fully so it surrenders. You just can't raid all the gold and move on. It had a pretty high chance when TOG was released, it might have been lowered in the latest patches.

In my CK2+ game, I only have ever gotten random people who are IMPORTANT to the nobles of the sieged province, but never the actual nobles. Or at the very least, the chance is extremely rare enough that I've never noticed it.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Well I'm not too sure about it but I suspect a perfectly stealthy murder will appear as "natural death". Either that or there's been some weird coincidences  :P
Nope, murder is always a suspicious accident.

oh, thanks for clearing that up. coincidences then....my vassals may not be as murderous as I believed them to.

Hmmm...  Do you have to have an actual war going on?

I just sent my raiding fleet to Connacht, sieged and looted each holding in turn so he now has zero loot.  The little torch icon has turned red, the county is no longer under siege, and nothing is happening.  No nubile Irish concubines for Tryggwe as of yet.

By the way I'm King of Norway now, having started with the Ynglings of Ostlandet.  My original king was awesome with something in the neighborhood of 2000 prestige and 500-something piety, and I was planning to do a prepared invasion on one of the French kingdoms or maybe something in Britain, but he died in battle ;c

Speaking of which, how good are prepared invasions.   How much can I expect to get from these adventurer troops?  How badly would I smash something like Lotharingia with a Norwegian prepared invasion?

I'm Yngling King of Norway, too, from Rogaland. Got conquered by King Fairhair of Ostlandet pretty quick, but then married my heir to his daughter and pushed her claim to the throne via faction (at the time, I was the strongest Duke by far) when he died. He had done a pretty good job, taking all of modern Norway and large chunks of Lithuania and Northern Germany (plus Iceland, but meh). My grandson managed to hold the place together after his mom passed on and left him the kingdom. He did so by triggering a subjugation war for Sweden which lasted twenty years and kept everybody's army population low. Rebellions popped up all the time, but they were easily crushed as part of the ongoing conflict.

Finally, the King of Sweden had no choice but to give up, and all of Scandinavia was united under a single banner. We could only enjoy it for two days, however, because the Lithuanian High Chief and his son spent the whole previous era building up power and screaming for blood. On their latest bid for independence, the entire Kingdom imploded. Not even as a result of Gavelkind or anything.

Iceland, meanwhile, because of the trouble involved in getting its army all the way to Sweden, was left to its own devices and is now home to the two richest counts in all of the Norse lands. They've singlehandedly been preventing England from unifying with their constant raids.

I don't know how many troops you get. I found out about prepared invasions after I was too big to use them.  But you do get more based on how long you wait to launch the invasion. How badly you smash Lotharingia would depend a lot on what the current relations between the other Karling kingdoms are. They tend to ally together when you attack them, it's best to wait until they are fighting eachother.
