Why would you ever bother with non-agnatic succ laws? It makes it impossible to land family members as the AI never seems to matry-marry heirs :/

You have to land sons. You don't have to worry about daughters bickering that you haven't given them land all the time. I just marry them off myself.

Purple born?

Born in the purple is a trait from the Legacy of Rome dlc for the Byzantine Empire.

Quote
This character is porphyrogennetos - literally "born in the purple." It is an honour bestowed only to children born of a ruling Basileus or Basileia in the Purple Chamber of the Imperial Palace. Their succession claim is stronger than that of older siblings born before their parents ascended the throne.

Yes, but those sons will pass their land to their daughters (it doesn't take long for an all-girl generation) whom they did not matry-marry.

Well I've discovered a downside to handing out king titles to members of my dynasty. I have 8 vassal kingdoms in my empire and they are my relatives. I did have a few kingdoms that weren't of my dynasty but my kinsmen managed to secure the titles for themselves.

Since Kings prefer to marry their children to the children of other Kings there has been a lot of inbreeding going on. I've just noticed that a lot of them are getting the slow or inbred traits. I guess it's time to conquer a few more kingdoms so I can bring some new blood into the mix, else I'm going to end up with a bunch of simpletons for vassals.

Ahah, never though of that. Do you care much though? Sure, the low stewardship hurt a bit, but I'd rather have incompetent fool for kinsmen that ambitious men with high intrigue and diplomacy.

Finally gave in and bought old gods instead of waiting for a sale.

Trying to revive Zoroastrian but my main problem is HOW am I suppose to take Persia? In theory, I COULD take Cumania. The ledger says we are about equal in army size.

You take Persia a lot of ways.

Swear fealty and eat it from within. Pick off revolting vassals. Get bigger from the north and attack them in an assault. :3

Eating it from within is probably the most intresting and fun way, as it allows you to really get into politics, instead of just managing armies and the occasional muderous vassal.

Well you'd run into issues with your liege constantly trying to get you to convert.

That's when you kill him and reset the opinion modifier.

Really, you should just always have a plot to kill your liege going at all times. This goes for every character, unless they have someone else they need to kill.

How long does he mercy modifier last? Killed the king so his under aged son won't stomp me. Now Cumania wants to stomp me. I rather not touch them and deal with Tengri Hungary blob which MAY back them up if I attack.

It's not that hard if the daughter you are trying to marry is your heir. That said, I personally like inviting heirs to my court then matry-marry them to any female dynasty member I have around. It's a rather fun way to spread your dynasty around, putting family in the throne to other kingdoms and even empires.

So you can bypass their reluctance to a marriage by inviting them to your court first?
