You COULD give your old capital to your direct heir so he has it when you die.

But then it'snot your capital anymore Dx

Personally, I solver this problem by giving pagans access to open and elective succession as well. They all default to open now, which is my favourite succession :P

The only thing I'd love to mod into CK2, is getting rid of Cassus bellis, or making them easier to forge myself :P

I feel the Gravelkind is just part of the... fun. At least it turns out, I still keep the lands even if I don't really control them, so... but man, srsly CK2... 4 daughters - cool! Then FIVE sons!?

I'd still like it so you can "Will landed title to" alongside "give honorary title" and "give landed title", so that when you die they get the land. Dependent on your succession laws, of course.

I'd also like to re-arrange duchies, so that if I have a particular area of land that I like to keep together (say, the four (?) provinces around the Bristol channel) I can.

More aesthetic than anything, but I'd like the option :3

Remember to educate your vassals' heirs and to force convert any vassals thata are your prisoner.
It really seems like all you can do as a pagan is to rush reformation as soon as possible. Having forced gavelkind and not having decent crown laws make the game a tedious line of rebellions and subjugation wars.

I no longer have any vassals at all. Just 250 personal baronies/counties. Rebellions? What rebellions?

Seriously at some point they should make it impossible to hold every barony yourself. So OP.

I don't have the new DLC, but doesn't that lower your income (I guess you don't care with raiding) and also shower you with bad events?

I think the bad events are almost entirely province based, with smuggler's rings and stuff. It will definitely increase your chance of assassination (though there'll be less people who might assassinate you) and maybe give you the stressed trait. Income will be non-existent but ironically piety should skyrocket, as should technological spread and technological development assuming the existence of universities and such.
I don't think it's terribly OP as you then have to pay for every soldier personally and have no monthly income. With raiding I see how it might be manageable, though you'd require constant micromanagement of raiders.

I know I'm Norse, but I haven't raided once this whole game. My income with 189 lands including like 60 counties is about 7 gold. And raising my full levels costs 100 gold a month plus 15 gold if all my retinues need to heal. However I banish so many people that I usually have 1500-4000 gold at all times. I've still got a few hundred people to banish. So that's like 20000 gold.

I am just not into micro management enough to raid for gold.

I actually had a piety crises at one point because I need 20 piety to imprison and banish people and I had none to recharge my gold.

I'm not sure I could fight a war with a powerful kingdom or empire since raising my levies is so ruinously expensive.

This post has pretty much all the reasons I listed in my one I just made. Pretty much its all true. I haven't improved holdings at all but maybe I should build some tech spread. Although really the only tech I care about is majesty and mil org.

Yeaaah. That was an interesting game. The biggest problem I always have is Paganism doesn't spread, like at all, which makes managing an empire difficult when all your vassals hate you. But I guess they have to have some downside for actually being able to conquer territory at a decent speed, which doesn't rely on random chance, or knowing how in the heck claims work.

Once you reform a pagan religion they spread a lot faster within your realm. I never had a problem with my vassals before that though because I made sure they were of my own religion. I think once you reach medium crown authority you can revoke titles from heretics easily.

So, long live Pope Hilarius, Second of his name.
Yep, thats a legit name.  He's my antipope.  I don't care that his skills suck at all.

My anti pope is also Pope Hilarious  :o

How do anti popes work anyway? Do I just select him, have the original pope hate me, and not have to worry about him anymore?

An anti-pope is like having a vassal pope. He'll like you a lot more and you'll go to him for divorces and the like instead of the regular pope. He'll decay the moral authority of the church a certain amount per year which can make heresies break out. You can push his claim and make him the true pope. If you're an emperor you can even vassalise the pope using this method basically allowing you to do what you want.

What happen when your vassal Pope dies though? I know you can't nominate a successor, even with Free Investiture.

So I guess to avoid the entire world waging war on me, I have to get everyone to like the antipope?

That's one thing I think this game needs, the ability to make other people like other people. All you can do is make them like YOU.
