Both me and a friend played the GoT mod and it crashed very early. We then disabled all DLC and non-GoT mods and it runs perfectly.

I question why you and your friend tried to run vanilla mods with a total conversion mod.

Also, fun fact, there's a (CK2) Sengoku mod based on CK2+. I'm not kidding: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?658595-Sengoku-There-s-too-many-warring-states-in-Japan!

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

When I already own Paradox's Sengoku game, I'm wondering if I need a mod to CK2, lol.

It might be fun to try, just to see the differences.  While not a great dynasty game, Sengoku is kind of fun as a simple wargame.

Now all we need is the Paradox take on the Three Kingdoms.

We assumed it might require stuff from the other mods to run. For instance, if they add trade republics to GoT then it should require the trade republic vanilla mod to play those, right?

The Republic is a DLC, not a mod.

Just so everyone knows, we have a slightly-mature multiplayer game going on using the A New World, Dawn of Empires mod. If anyone's interested, here's the link: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=121628.0

We're down to 4-5 players and there's huge power vacuums in the world, so we likely aren't picky on who joins.

How exactly does CK2 multiplayer work ? No pauses ? Or the host is controlling the time flow ?

Everyone, I think including the host, can pause for 30 seconds, where nobody else can unpause but the person who paused originally. Then, the game can be unpaused by anyone at any time.

The host controls the speed at which the game runs when not paused. The host's game (not the host him/herself) also slows down or pauses the game automatically if someone lags.

it is probably a bit slower than your single player game, but not much different.
we usually run on speed level 1 or 2.

I normally play on max speed all the time with lots of pauses when I need them. So I guess a multiplayer game would not be for me.

I can't play any Paradox game multiplayer unless they made the time setting "democratic". A great example of this is "Defcon" where the speed goes by the current lowest player setting. The "democratic" part comes in where you have a whole bunch of people, in that case you need a certain percentage of the same setting to lower the speed and/or pause. This helps the game remain playable for larger MP games.
Being able to pause for 30 seconds doesn't help all that much when you have a kingdom to manage. Having to yell at the host to slow down the speed so you don't get roflstomped by a omnipresent AI makes it impossible to have a casual easy-going MP game I find.

It would also be interesting to see some kind of (optional) pseudo-turnbased mechanic introduced. Basically the game allows no inputs from either player or computer until a certain tick, say a monthly, where the game is paused and inputs are allowed before the turn is over and the next tick must be waited for.

I would be interested in this in Singe Player as well. I would assume the AI would handle your armies during those months, so you can finally know if your military was actually better, or if the enemy AI just a really bad job.

I'd like there to be less idling, more dealing with my courts and better tactics, alongside more developed intrigue.

I like pausing whenever I need to do something in normal games (except combat for the most part), but it's not too bad for me. Of course, I don't often play on maximum speed either, and I got used to it doing EU3 MP.
