It appears that the start date has been pushed back to 867 AD. I'm not really all on board with that but whatever.

You could always just start in 1066 if it annoys you.

Also I am using the 'Hel yes!' pun before anyone else gets a chance to steal it.

Doesn't really bother me but I think pushing the start back could be a tad problematic. Apparently (according to a dev forum post) it's going to have all the same de jure kingdoms/duchies. A surprising lot changed in those 200 years and it seems a little strange to force the earlier start into that mould. How will they manage the non-schism-ed christian church? Will there be some migration/settling events?

Pushing back the time may also have some strange results for the 1066 start. Will there still be Viking raids introduced by the DLC in 1066? that would seem odd as the Viking era was over and the raids had pretty much completely stopped.

Where did you read the new date has the same de jure setup? Different bookmarks can have different de jure lands (larger mods have this) and even different (max or filled) barony slots (see the county of Thrace after the sacking of Constantinople).

I honestly doubt there will be a de jure kingdom of Hungry, without any Hungarians on the map.

I am disappointed by the lack of Jews though. Sure, with Jews Khazar would be unplayable, but it would be nice to have those Jews from CK1 back...

So will the 867 map still be same in terms of provinces available and only different being who are controlling them?

Yes.
This seems to indicate we're seeing the exact same de jure setup as the standard game with perhaps some titular kingdoms/duchies spread around. If this was the case there would be a kingdom of Hungry (although with no one of the culture to form it).

Read that as well, but that seems to indicate it has the same map. De jure should be different. There really is no excuse for Paradox to not change it.

But we'll see.

The rebels with a cause thing looks interesting, should probably make rebels an actual threat beyond destroying the occasional building and killing the occasional vassal.

Yeah, right now I don't bother with rebels at all. Unless I accidentally move an army through them when going to war or something.

Bought that Amazon bundle, since I didn't have most of it and have been wanting to get the more recent big ones anyway (Republic and Rome). Same price as the Republic one and all the others as a bonus, so that's nice.

Amazon must be flooded now or something though, for some reason it's taking forever to get it to show me the keys. I click display key and it shows one half the time and half the time it bugs out and stops showing the buttons or the keys for like 5 minutes and 50 page reloads then suddenly has a key and I start again on the next one. Only got like 3 of them so far. Guess I'll activate them later when I have more free time.

You mean I can finally play a faction that shouldn't worry about silly little papers giving them a "reason" for war? I mean, I only need two reasons to go to war:
A. I want your stuff
B. I have a better army

Should be all the reason I ever need!

Not everyone has easy access to getting a credit card. For years the only kind I could get were pre-paid which costs you more money to use and they are also a hassle when you end up having bunch of cards with a dollar or two left on a them. Paypal on the other hand lets you pay directly out of your bank account which made paying for things quite simple.
