I had a funny series of events happen with a lustful ruler.

He married and had children young, then 16 years later his son comes of age and I marry the son to another 16 year old. The king immediately takes his son's wife as a lover, and ends up being the father of what the game was treating as his grandson. That lasts a while and he winds up fathering several more kids from his son's wife to the point that he's the father of most of his son's children. Then 16 years later the "grandson" comes of age and gets his own wife. Suddenly the old king takes the new wife as a lover, and the first born son is, yet again, his. That also lasts a few years and soon half of the "grandson's" children are his. Then 16 years later... it all happens for a third time, so now over half of his "great grandchildren" are actually his sons and daughters. The third time around he was in his late 70s too. I almost thought it was all going to happen for a 4th time, but he died off in his 80s before his son/great grandson came of age to get a young wife.

That old king also had a few children from a couple of the other female courtiers, but he seems to mostly have had the hots for his sons' wives.

It is GOOD to be the king!
I keep wanting to figure this game out but I think I'm better off following the thread.  How could I top something like this.

Taking Scotland is easier. Or you could use your fleet and attack the Muslims.

Hello guys !
I was wondering if the DLCS were really worth it ? I bought the game like 6 month ago and only played a little ( 10 hours or so ) and decided recently to give it a second chance, along with watching a LP of it. I suppose the "best" Dlcs are sword of islam, the one on the byzantine empire and The republics, am I correct ? I ask this question because they are quit expensive ( 10e, 5e and 10e respectively ) and I am not really sure if they add so much to the original game for their cost ( Even though playing as the muslims or as the republics looks kind of nice ).

You can always wait for it to go on sale. It will cost you about $10.

SoI and The Republic are definitely worth their cost. I'd recommend getting the Mongol Faces and African Faces as well. The first one is really well done and the latter, while of slightly lower quality, fixes the whole 'lack of black people in Africa'-thing which kinda ruins immersion.

Do NOT get the Russian or Mediterranean faces though. The Russians are ugly, and the Mediterranean are absolutely hideous.

I actually don't see anything wrong with the Russians. The Mediterranean though, are pretty ugly.

I also like the Russian faces. It's nice to have the extra variety in the world that the face packs bring, even though the artwork in the DLCs is a tad below the quality of the vanilla faces.

I guess if you prefer quantity over quality you should buy the Russian one indeed.

Legacy of Rome is the only way to get Retinue, so that alone makes it pretty good.

Do people still tend to create mayors/doges as vassals now that the Republic is out. I know it's good for the cash flow, but I am not so sure about getting into trade wars and embargo wars and whether that makes it worth it.

I tried it recently but I'm not sure how it'll pan out. I formed it on Wales, as I control Ireland. So I don't have to worry about the Italian powers or Gotland for a while I imagine.
