I hate agantic seniority. There's no way to groom your heir and unless you start kinslaying you're likely going to be stuck with an old useless bastard.

You can give an honorary title to... your children/brothers (and probably anyone in your dynasty) to make them your next heir. Then you can spend some gold to get them elected.

You can groom whatever heir you want and get them elected ezpz. Seniority does suck in a feudal realm though.

Anyone know how to move a capital as a republic? Game says you can't, but that's never stopped anyone before...

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

92% warscore in independence war.  Liege has no armies in the field.  Cue death of my leader to natural causes.

No, actually, you can't. It's a design feature.

There was a bug that allowed you to move the Republic's capital to Jerusalem, but if you happened to do this you would become the kingdom of Jerusalem, and the game would end, declaring you had become a republic and you were not allowed to play one of those.

Huh, I just realized I'd been marrying my designated heirs to princessess to help their election chances, but gold is actually 5 times more effective at boosting respect when spent directly on the election. I suppose the added prestige has some other benefits, but I guess I need to reconsider my strategy.

Definitely still going to continue marrying my daughters and sisters to the highest ranking single noble.

It seems gold coins are more valuable then your daughters and sisters...  :P

I was messing around with eugenics, and not playing very seriously, so I was playing on the tutorial island (aka Ireland). Wound up creating a dynasty of hunchbacked, lisped, dwarves and uniting the island. Got bored of that so I started playing normally, and wound up converting to Lollard. Mega Scotland, holding all of Scotland and most of England/Wales kept attacking me. I could fight them off 1 on 1 generally, but I couldn't invade with the holy war causus belli because I'd have Catholic doom stacks landing on England, and I couldn't take them and Scotland on. So then, I got a devious plan. The new King of Scotland didn't have a child, so I invited his heir to my court and converted him to Lollard. I then assassinated the Scottish King and they became Lollard. Cue all of their vassals rising up in rebellion. I quickly conquered Wales and declared myself King in the caos. Unfortunately, now Norway owns about half of England (along with all of Sweden).
Probably my favorite thing in paradox games is causing a blob to implode.

OK, Republics are kinda ridiculous.

I chose the youngest family leader in Venice and he's now the Doge and I own most of the trade post of Venice. I used plots to take all the trade post of 2 families.

Also, why is there a constant maintenance cost even if I don't have anything army raised? Who am I paying tax to?

I believe I read (haven't got the dlc) that your family members will grab some of your income. Might be what's happening.

Quote from: Dev-diary 3
Speaking of the "family firm", Patricians - while they do tend to make a lot of money compared to Feudal Lords - have to provide for their entire family. Every adult male member of your Dynasty will get a cut of all the money you make; the closer related to you the bigger the share.

That is what's happening.  Click on the shield below your leader portrait to bring up the income/expenses menu and you'll see a "family expenses" item.  However the mouse over it and it'll tell you the shares.  IIRC it's 50 for family leader (you), 5 for sons, 4 for brothers, 3 for cousins, 2 for nephews, 1 for other kin.

Well that was easy. I rendered all other families powerless. My leader has 17 intrigue and average stats in all others. His wife is a genius. I'm earning 45 per month.

45 per month? You need to build bigger trade zones. I was making like 500 per month before I got bored.

I tried vanilla with the new DLC. Basically, unless you get screwed by random events, you start showering in gold after 20-30 years. Then you can start rolling over everything with mercenaries. Well, just have to wait and see what Prince & Thane, AGoT and CK+ make of this.

Project Balance/Balansegang was updated just a couple hours after the update. Meneth is a champ. I haven't played vanilla for such a long time thanks to that mod.

Man people talk about all this dosh Patricians make, and I think I haven't gotten over +10 a month without just getting bored, cheating up a bunch of money, and just building trade ports everywhere. I got to like, 5 or something legit...

You have to have contiguous trade zones. It gets to something like +95% trade post income and +45% city income for ALL cities in the trade zone pretty fast. Unfortunately it appears to approach an infinite limit and never actually hit +100% or +50% though.
