I think it's been brought up, but Paradox never responds to people asking.

Well, that seems to be the way of Paradox these days.

They've responded to a lot of other things, but they seem to gloss that over.

An interesting fact about women not being commanders in the game, is that Paradox doesn't see a problem with them being educated as commanders (this isn't even some weird unexpected bug- roughly 1/4 of your women will routinely get one of the 'red' warrior profession traits.) If they can do that (which they, maybe, shouldn't) they should lead armies too.

Not to mention in most of my games, women always have the highest Martial scores out of everyone.

wat.

They never respond?

Are you all trolling... or what?

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

So ... I broke the game.

You know how the Varangian Guard is a vassal of the Byzantines?
Well I gave them land and I could then play as them. Nothing major there. However I cheated and became independent for SCIENCE and still had the ducal level of "Vanargian Guard" it was even written across my counties and had a pleasant metal gray to it. It also said I had no "heir to my dynasty" so I quickly laid with a courtier and got a kid which did nothing, still had no heir.

I decided to see what would happen if I kill my character, assuming it would be a game over. Nope. New guy FROM A DIFFERENT DYNASTY inherites the "throne" of the Vanargian Guard. Did I just discover a way to make basic republics playable?

The ducal laws of the Varangian Guard is "Agnatic Open-Elective"
"All vassals and courtiers get a vote and decide on the successor from among themselves. Only males can inherent."

EDIT: Claimed a duchy and the Guard was my primary title. On my death both titles were inherited by the successor! Going to see what happens with a kingdom now. Kingdoms override the ducal level of Var. Guard, death causes the loss of that title and a game over if there's no heir.  :-[

They hadn't responded when I last checked the forums which was... well, probably about a month after the game came out.

Well that would probably be due to the Open-Elective law, change it to primogeniture and report on that.

Can't change the laws. There are no gender of succession laws but there are crown laws.

Guess it's a special flag related to the mercenary title.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

this here lady took her one-county realm and conquered six more pagan counties in three years

she shows no signs of stopping

let's dance, paradox

And mother of France these stats! How does this even work.

Theres only two ways that could happen. Either you artificially created that scenario, or you just encountered some insane bug.
