Hail the Kingdom Abyssinia! The bastion of Christianity in the Islam Heartland.

In this game, Byzantine is almost gone. Also, I can't take Rassid. They can somehow raise an army of 6k compare to my less than 4k. I suspect they are using Holy orders or Mercenaries.

What is the difference between hard/not hard?  I have a policy where I learn every game I can on hard first, so I have no experience on less-than.  However, I usually have to suppliment my forces with mercs, esp early on...

I have no idea what naval_morale is doing there though.

Seems like it might be an obsolete hold-over from earlier builds. Apparently people have been finding little snippets of evidence that indicate there might have been planned naval combat at one point. Might have something to do with an AI trigger or some other such thing.

It seems that the majority don't even know there's difficulty settings since they're not in the "campaign map" like Europa Univeralis.

There has never been any doubt that there was planned naval warfare, it's just very low priority. Paradox explicitly said that they implemented the actual ship mechanics instead of abstracting it like in CK1 so that if would be smoother to implement more naval-related stuff, if they ever got around to it.

EU4 with CK2's politics and dynasties and events and personality would be so beautiful.

Have you read the EU4 developer diaries? IIRC, it said in one of the earlier ones that EU4 will have greater emphasis on individuals (not nearly as much as CK though). Personally, I'm more looking forward to EU:Rome2. That game had so much promise, and the expansion really put life into it (it really deserved a second one to really tie things together...). Too bad it sold so poorly. I figure, though, that the lessons learned during the first game as well as CK2 would make EU:R2 the greatest game ever. Hopefully.

I quite enjoyed EU:Rome. It had a lot of interesting stuff going for it and I enjoyed playing Barbarians the most. It was an incredibly clunky and flawed game though.
It did have some great mechanics like roving barbarian hordes that will attack "civilised" provinces and could demand tribute or establish their own country. The army and tech systems were rather nice as well.

Apparently EU:Rome sold rather poorly so it's pretty much at the bottom of Paradox games that they wish to give a sequel to. Honestly I think it would have benefited more if it was it's own "IP" instead of sharing the EU name. The mechanics were just so different to the EU series which might have fuelled a lot of the dislike towards it.

Not yet, there is still the HRE around, but it's ripped apart by Lollard, catholic and orthodox wars.

It's was a lot more impressive to form the Roman Empire without those silly Imperial CBs. Paradox really seem to be slipping with the balance of the DLC patches. Mega-blob-Fatamids and Byzantium conquering Rome easily is just insane. Didn't take me long at all to form both the Roman Empire and to end the Schism. Also those Cataphract Retinues that just trample everything, ouch.

Byzantium should at least have to own the Holy Lands before they get a free claim on Rome. Byzantium should have to restore the Roman Empire before they actually get any claims on old territory like Albion or Hispania.
Some of the flavour stuff is nice but I was rather unlucky when I was playing BYZ and didn't see many events. Blinding and castration are also hilarious but might also be worth giving to the Muslims. Castrating dynasty members to keep decadence down would be nice and somewhat historical. Would be fun to play as Saladin to capture and castrate Raynald of Chatillon.

In my opinion the only way to really enjoy playing CKII now is with mods that tone down some of the insanity. Fatamids blobbing across the world, Byzantium super expansion (if they win against the Seljurks) and finally the fate of Hispania being decided in a few generations can all be fixed with modding.

EDIT: Not that I was putting down your achievement at all. I was just talking about some of the mechanics of the latest DLC that don't make sense. Reforming the Roman Empire is always an achievement in any Paradox game.

Where might one get such, and what would you reccommend?  Not that I won't llok on my own, but I'd like some experienced advice?  It does get rather monotoneous after a bit, but fine for 2hrs at a time.
