I notice my female rulers always live well into their 80's.  I'm probably working off a pretty small sample size, but never having to lead troops through plague ridden provinces probably helps a lot with their lifespan.

Or lead troops into battle, considering all the possible bad events. Leading troops is pretty dangerous I've found, considering all my vassals that die in even small battles.

On the other hand, you can gain positive traits and have you martial skill increase through experience.

Ugh, handing out all of this land is a nightmare. I spent literally 3 hours figuring out how to divide it, and I still don't have enough people to land without overpowering anybody. I've managed to give the duchy of Cairo pretty much to myself and the 2 other rich duchies and counties have been split between dynasty members. I've now run out of dynasty members and have no other dynasties within my realm that I can give Sinai to. The plan was to give Sinai to another dynasty who my dynasty would use as breeding cattle, but I'm having trouble finding one that won't end up losing it to some count in France.

You do realize there's a decision to invite a random noble to your court, right?
Barring that I tend to give land to barons with good traits. Hell, when I conquered the world I made the world a much better place just by giving titles to kind and good-hearted people.. at least I'd think so. It's generally a bad idea to give land to pre-existing vassals as you want your vassals to be weak.

Agh, too late now. The recently conquered modifier has expired and I've usurped the title King of Egypt, my income is now 10.70 per month .

I've noticed that people don't seem to spit out babies as much when I last had a serious game and infant mortality also seems somewhat higher. It's worrying me that I may end up inheriting half of the land I've given away again.

The larger your court the less babies iirc.
