I destroyed Hungary. I kept my vassals. They were a little pissed but otherwise okay.

And, appropriately, after destroying the title my female heir died... then my king died soon after. Leaving it to a child. Welp.

Well, at least he turned out to be a whopping 18 diplo Grey Eminence king and had no bad attributes even without reloading. Only bad thing now is EVERYONE IS VOTING FOR ME TO BE THE NEXT HRE EMPEROR AGAIN. ARGH.

Useless ideas for what could have been with the Kingdom of Hungary.  Feel free to ignore, as it is no longer relevant.  Nice idea on deleting the crown in question!

You know, if you were either the HRE Emperor or the King of Hungary, and your relative was the other, then you could both call each other into wars.

Or as the King of Hungary, you could have submitted to the HRE, thus allowing the alliance to work (and giving you some other sucker to make into the HRE Emperor).

I believe if you decide to recreate the title sometime in the future it will start with the same crown laws as your primary. It'll get rid of the "not de jure liege" penalty (which I think is only for revolt risk), though then you just end up with dukes desiring your title, so it's hard to see if there's a benefit.

As king of Hungary, swear vassalage to the HRE, thus becoming another vassal of the HRE.  Since Hungary and Bavaria would both be HRE vassals, you could call each other into wars, and whichever country you weren't controlling could be nominated by you as the new Emperor of the HRE, and would likely vote for themselves.

But... I am Bavaria. And voting for another doesn't and likely wouldn't work anyway, my vassals like me too much!



Also, the new pope is Hedonist, Honest, Craven, and Zealous, and Slothful. Sounds like a wondrous combo.

He obviously won the election because he throws good parties and is very serious about preaching his religion.  Aka, he's a Republican.

You know what, I have the majority of the HRE, I'm just going to declare independence so I don't have problems with their silly elections.

Having 11000 vs. 3000, it's clear that I'm going to win. If I ever feel tempted to return I can. I'll miss the claim wars giving vassals, but oh well.

Edit: Pffft, the pope is now a drunkard too. What the hell.

Historically there were actually quite a few hedonistic popes or popes that were incredibly unfit to be pope. The trouble with being elected for anything is that you're usually not elected because you're the most suited person around for the job, you're elected because out of the people with political leverage to stand a chance of winning, you're the person most people wanted to vote for.

There were actually quite a few popes that were hedonistic, impious, or just plain bad people. Since it's a position you have for life and nobody can impeach you, you can literally get away with murder as long as you don't get yourself killed.

Yup and due to this you get all kinds of awesome legends like Pope Joan or Sylvester II. Stories from the Holy See are some of the most interesting in medieval Europe.

And so I'm still on topic, the Catholic in my current game have taken Arabia, Africa, Jerusalem and Egypt in crusades. I'm slowly taking Egypt as Krete.

The whole line of de Medici popes were solely installed just so the Holy See would stop bothering the bankers are remove ursury laws. And all the popes they installed were pretty hilarious.

It's actually kind of weird how we can't play as de Medici. But maybe that's because they're a Renaissance family instead of dark ages.

I assume there's going to be a theocracy/Papal expansion at some point. The religion in CKII really needs to be fleshed out way more, there isn't even cardinals in the game.

Hookers want booze.  Everyone knows that.  Good orgies feature tons of alcohol.

Good luck playing Medieval Germany.  Try to grab all the land of modern-day Germany.  I'd suggest recreating the HRE title, but I think it always is created as elective.  It's good to be the king!
