so i recently purchased the game, starting off as an irish count, and I noticed that even though my laws have max troop levies, my bishopric is not providing me with any troops. why is this?

Either he hates you or you have the wrong law set to max troop levies. Maybe it's city or castle.

Bishops are arseholes. Seriously, though, church levies are different laws, and even then they won't give you troops because they like the Pope more than you. Although that might just be taxes.

My Kingdom of Wales-Ireland-Brittany-Scotland-Sicily-Andalusia just imploded, thanks to my heir going heretic->Catholic->heretic within the first month of inheriting the crown.  A shame, too; his mother was a badass who managed to conquer most of Britain and won two crusades.  Even if the kingdom survives this, it'll only be a shadow of its former self.

31%?  I had a 30 Diplomacy chancellor once who only had a 19% chance.  How did you manage that?

Your ruler has a significant effect on your chances, and there appears to be some random variation. I went from 15 to 25 % with the same ruler and chancellor over the course of about 10 years.

Is it possible to switch my loyalties to a Muslim sultan?  I'm count of Acre, and while Ol' Guy is doing a decent job of defense, I fear Jerusalem will be swamped.  Can I jump ship when the time comes?

It's an event. It only happens when a Norman is lord of a Saxon province.

I could be wrong, but they only give you taxes if they like you more then the pope.
They never give you any troops at all (unless they are bishop-princes, in which case they give you troops like normal).

Hey, does the whole relation thing matter if you're orthodox? I've been wondering after I've managed to inherit Byzantium and create the Russian empire. Novgorod and Vladimir, my two held duchies, have some open spaces and I've been wondering if my Catholic-ruler policy of 'screw the whole bishop thing' is still valid.

Also am I the only one who seems to see Monophysites completely overtake the Orthodox Church practically half the time? It's a common sight to have a fully heretic Byzantium.
