Just a quick survey: do most people here play vanilla, or one of the mods? I have played vanilla, Balansegang, and CK2Plus, and I think I lean towards CK2Plus as my favorite of the three.

I have bought the game recently, and this is still my first game. I'll start playing mods after I finish a campaign in vanilla.

I was thinking about trying that game of thrones mod. CKII should work well with the setting.

Vanilla. CK2+ and most other mods slow down my game considerably.

I tried The Prince and the Thane, but then I realized it wasn't that old and I decided, ehhh, no thanks.

I now play CK2+.

Lots of somewhat subtle tweaks is what it is. Most of them are arguably good tweaks.

I'm finding Broken Kingdoms to be ridiculously fun. It's completely ahistorical, of course, but it opens up many otherwise uninteresting characters to much more early-game maneuvering.

I have a small issue in my current game. To set this up, Ireland has all of Iceland, Scotland, 3 counties in Spain, and all of England except 3 counties (they are owned by the HRE, France (they became HUGE), and Norway (also huge)). One of my vassals holds 2 dutchies, and their heir is currently in control of 3 counties of a 4 county dutchy. When the vassal dies, their heir will control virtually 3 dutchies (I'm sure they will usurp the third). Now I have no problem quashing a rebellion, because I can still pull out 4x the amount of troops the 3 dutchies combined will have, but I'd rather break up the control of those dutchies before the possible rebellion. What the hell can I do without having tyranny incurred?

Try a plot to revoke a duchy? Maybe? It might work. I don't know if it incurs tyranny.

Make him revolt against you, win the war, then take a duchy from him.


Insult him and lower relations by raising his troops, and making him court jester. :>

Are you sure he's going to revolt? And/or his heir? You could try asssassinations and kill plots until someone more content comes into the succession.

ARGH, HATE. I tried to imprison a duchess, who was plotting to take my throne. I failed, so she revolted. That civil war resulted in two lost counties (some assholes outside the war declared separate war against my revolting vassals). THEN SHE DIED A NATURAL DEATH JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO WIN THE CIVIL WAR. ARGH. I WANTED TO MURDER HER MYSELF.

And, of course, I can't do crap about those other assholes since they're not traitors or anything. Oh no. They certainly didn't fight the men obviously flying the king's flag. They certainly didn't send thousands to their death. They certainly didn't result in lost land. Oh no. They're just innocent bystanders... that are throwing grenades. >_>

Oh well, at least one of my loyal vassals is kicking the crap out of a disloyal one. They without a doubt deserve it.

It's been around 25 years since I started my game. It seems like the pope is a pacifist. He never called any crusades.
