[Catastrophic lolcats]

So I downloaded CKII+ and been enjoying it so far. 

Infact I've hit a dilemma. Not one of those boring moral dilemmas, but a dilemma about conquest!

Playing Ireland once again, formed the Kingdom of Ireland, Wales and Jerusalem (yay Crusades!). Well on my way to forming Scotland as well. The dilemma however is that the HRE suddenly blew up into a collection of warring states. The HRE still owns northern Italy and it's devided from it's capital in Flanders by a sea of angry rebelling indepent states.

Now what's so important about that? Well as it turns out the Pope will allow me to invade the HRE and invade I did. I was easily able to smash the Italian provences while their main army were fighting the Germans up north, using an army of mercs I rented with some spare funds. I was easily able to force the warscore up to 100% and declare myself emperor of the HRE! 

Now the dilemma is wether I should play this save and create the first Celtic Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, or revert to an old save and become the emperor of the British Irish Isles and then focus my efforts on Europe.
Is Irish Britannia or Irish Holy Roman Empire more impressive?

Yeah. Managed to get pretty much all the postive traits and I gained a whole bunch of gold after I became emperor ... for some reason. The influx of new Bishops giving me gold and spoils of victory? Been busy trying to fix the problems I inherited so I didn't pay attention to where it was coming from.

First order of business is going to be to force the various rebelling states back into the HRE. Then removing those dirty forigners from my European provences and replacing them with glorious Irish born. Finally uniting the kingdoms under a single throne so the elections are always rigged. 
From there I guess I'll try and vassalise the Holy See or make an Antipope and replace the current Pope. Unite the British Isles, reclaim the collapsing Byzatine Empire from the Turks and move into the rest of Arabia.

I guess the final goal will be a green-eyed noble controlling every provence and the emperor that wears all the crowns. Hopefully it will keep me busy enough untill the next DLC comes out.

If you control the pope and he excommunicates you, you can just set up an antipope and make him the new pope.

Well from my understanding the Pope is "king level" so you can "legally" vassilise him and his counties if you're an empire. One could, in theory, revoke all his titles and keep him as a "Bishopric" of the Holy See so he becomes a powerless figurehead of the church. Which you can easily replace at your lesure whenever he gets angry.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but it's what the gameplay mechanics seem to indicate.

Can you form an empire if you get big enough, or must you conquer/inherit an existing one?

In the vanillia game you have to conqure an existing one. However various mods (and the upcoming DLC) add creatable empires. Like Britannia or the Empire of France.

If you are emperor of the HRE and king of Ireland, Wales, and Jerusalem, then after 100 years those countries will be considered part of the empire. That's as good as it'll get without mods.

Great diplo, martial, and steward stats on that man.

Too bad his Learning is unimpressive and his Intrigue is very crappy. Also, he's 62, so I'm pretty sure he's gonna kick a bunch of buckets very soon.

Still, very impressive on the number of attributes.
