The Song of Ice and Fire mod has been released, for those that are interested.

King's Landing is in the east? How the hell did I not know that >.>

edit: Robbert is older than Stannis? Why is everything different from how I thought it was :(

Yes, that's why Robert became King and Stannis did not. It's kind of an easy mistake to make though, Stannis is described as being gaunt and looking far more aged than he is, and he has sort of an "older brother" quality about him.

Yes, but I thought that in one of the later books Stannis was pissed because Robbert became king instead of him (the older one, or not). I might have been confused with him being pissed about his wife's moustache though.

Robert is only older than stannis by a year or something, but he's a grumpy gus so he acts older than robert.

Didn't GRRM wrote another book lately? I think I'll have to read them all over again as it has been a few years. Probably in English this time as well so the names will be a bit more consistent.

To anyone playing the SIF mod, is it really supposed to be this amazingly fast? I haven't played vanilla CK in ages. Is it that fast in vanilla as well?

It got faster in a recent patch. I think the SIF mod runs faster though because there are so few wars. Overall the mod is pretty cool but I feel it's a bit easy right now, at least as one of the great houses, as you can pretty easily put your house on any number of other titles.

I had a short but hilarious game as the county of Dublin. I picked up a few other counties and got some decent cash going, then got the heretical event where my priest was telling me to convert to a heresy. I figured what the hell and did it, then holy war'd the rest of Ireland. I managed to conquer the whole place in short order using mercenaries, and declared myself King of Ireland after only 15 years (most of which was spent before the heresy). I then force converted a bunch of my vassals, and moved on to bashing on Scotland a couple years later - taking little chunk of land from them.

Then the war that had been going on between England and France died down and they jumped on me in two separate wars, England going for my piece of Scotland and France wanting a duchy in Ireland. More war declarations rolled in, followed by everyone and their dog joining in the wars that were started. Practically the entirety of Catholic Europe jumped on me in several different wars for different parts of Ireland. I had over 100,000 men land on Ireland - if they had put that much effort into the crusades my last game they may have retaken Jerusalem.

It wasn't long before all I had left was one little duchy with two counties, but I was at peace so I thought I might stay alive with that - but Norway showed up with a few thousand troops and took that from me too before I regrew enough troops or gold to fight back. First time I've ever lost at CK2.

Would have been funny if they hadn't did that though - I had dreams of a heretical British Isles.

Any reason I can't look at that even after registering?

So I finally managed to unite the British Irish Isles. I'm sure vets of the game could have done it much quicker and better than me but I'm rather proud since it was only my second "real game".
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Taking England was of course the hardest part, quite annoying to slowly nom at their many provences.

Along the way I also became the king of The Holy Lands from an early crusade where I crushed the stupid AI.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Along the way I somehow managed to get a pretender on the thone of Bohemia. So I usurped the throne and started a very bloody war against the whole HRE. Luckly they were off fighting the muslims in Spain (which they ended losing), and I was free to keep the throne I didn't quite want.

England had a large investment in Spain and owned almost half of the provences there. After I usurped the throne of England they all splintered off into various Spanish sub-states like Granda and Portugal. A fitting end to such an annoyance.

My "Emperor of the Irish Isles" was a 64 year old crusader with quite a large amount of prestiage. My eldest ruler (also ironically a Crusader) lived to 89. Quite a feat!
He's the lord of seven thrones: Wales, Ireland, Brittany, England, Bohemia, Jerusalem and Scotland

And finally the world map in 1239.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Castile used to own much more of France before it collpased (mostly due to a bloody turf war with myself). The black nation near "Denmark" is the Knights Templar. The Polish queen gave them the lands for whatever reason.
Apart from that the map stayed very static. apart from the few random "mass rebellions" that plagued the HRE.

Unsure what to do next. I suppose claiming Normandy would be on the list and perhaps taking Egypt back. Apart from that I've reach the awkard stage where there's nothing really standing in my way. Both Empires tremble at my might and I don't really feel like getting involved in the imperial politics, although I guess that's the logical next step.

Go Gavelkind. That always keeps things interesting rather than having one son inherit a throne.

How is your de jure kingdom mapmode looking? Do the kingdoms other than Ireland in the isles still exist? I'd say split your titles with gavelkind or something while you focus on Jerusalem and bringing Irish culture to the heathens.

De Jure map is still pretty much the same. The Western Isles/ Isle of Man have been incorporated into the Irish Kingdom, but that's about it. I like the idea of being the lord of seven thrones rather than one massive blob state. Closest I'll get to an Emperor.
I've made sure that all of my vassals were Irish so the culture is spreading rather fast and some of the arabian states have started to turn. I've been waiting for the Pope to get off his arse and declare another crusade so I can raise my horde without having to worry about long-raised levy penalty. I can still easily take the heathens. Problem is the effort of shipping the army across, the British Isles is rather annoying like that.

What would be the point in changing to gavelkind apart from the big bloody civil war that will be sure to follow? Do cultures/De Jure kingdoms integrate faster? Personally my first act as king was to outlaw gavelkind which I hate with a passon, I suppose it would make a good "end of the game" scenario though.

When you finish the game, save the file and export it to EU3 when the program becomes available.

!اللعنة نعم

Well as obvious as that being released, I'm still fairly jubilant about it. Also that they refer it to an expansion rather than a DLC, although that makes little difference.

I also like how their implementing all these new features and mod ideas. Although I have no idea what the grape percentage under the dynasty crest is supposed to be. Fertility rating?

E: Interesting...muslims need four wives otherwise they get a relatively *huge* prestige drain.
