it requires Steam, so I would guess it's purchase is the only thing you would have to deal with GS for.

If you have doges (only make doges if you can make their count tier vassals lord mayors instead of counts) they usually want to marry but don't do it themselves o you can get a free +15 relations bonus for fulfilling his ambition.

Care to elaborate on this point? I have one Doge in my game, he seems to be holding up fine with two counts instead of lord mayors as vassals. Interested to see your thinking on this.

Ahahahaha. Finally formed Ireland. Started off as Count of Dublin. His grandson was the first King of Ireland, and we're now on the third monarch, first queen. She took the throne at age 1 because her father decided to be on the front line of a battle. Dumbass. >_>

One more small question. Does anyone know if it is possible to give vassals to their de jure liege? I have some duchies in the Kingdom of Jerusalem that consider me their liege that I'd like to pass off to the new King there, but can't figure out how to do that.

Pretty sure you can do that (there should be a 'transfer vassal' option if you go to the king's diplomacy tab), but a better option IMHO is usually to give it to the pope if you're Catholic. Nets you a lot of  piety. Also relieves you of getting jihad'd constantly.

Started a game as that welsh duchy on the Stamford Bridge start on 1066. As of now, it 1124, I'm on my fourth ruler, and have formed the Kingdom of Wales, made my dynasty grow a lot through heavy use of marriages and matrilineal marriages, and using them together with invites to my courts to heirs and a healthy amount of intrigue I have placed members of my dynasty on the throne both of England and Scotland.

That's really good advice. I had a whole bunch of Arabs in my court that I didn't know what to do with. It was quite annoying since I had to scroll further to find a courtier of my culture and there would be a pop-up every now and again informing me one of them have converted to catholic. Didn't want to give them to my vassals incase they grant them a title and they manage to convert the culture/religion
of the land.

I always envisioned a very confused Moroccan-esce bazaar owner with pointy shoes, turban and a vest over bare chest walking around my courtyard waving to strangers and poiting at a bible he couldn't read, while they ignored him and shuffled away quickly. It was a bit of a sad image really.

Someone in your court just inherited the throne of Bohemia and is still showing up as in your court? It will probably update and not show them there next time, though.

Oh dear god. I was playing the King of Sicily-Naples, just chillin', crusading for fun (and not profit, it was all for the Queen of Jerusalem), dumdumdum. Then the Byzantine Emperor declares war on me.

Umm, yeah. Over the County of Bari, bizarrely. Their initial force just landed, 17k men. I could maybe muster that many if I hired some mercs, too, but I just dismissed a hired merc army and I'm not really rolling in cash right now.

So, any suggestions? It seems to me I should just roll over and take it like a man. What's one county, anyhow? Maybe it'll rebel and come back to me automatically? Miracles do happen, right?

It won't rebel back to you so the question is how much do you care about that one county?

It will take a little time for the bizzies to occupy Bari so you can use that to raise a new army if you are inclined to fight them.  Also check to see who they are invading on behalf of.  Maybe you could assassinate him and end the war inconclusively.

There are triggers for back-rebelling, but I don't know if Bark meats the requirements for any of them (the only one I can remember is that if a lqndlocked province of a different culture does not border any other province of yours it will rebel, and if the rebels stay in power long enough it will eventually secede to another nation).

Another thing you could do, though, is checking if the Emperor is leading troops. If you're lucky he might be leading a smaller army somewhere else, and you could attack it and hope you manage to capture him. It's unlikely, but it's the only thing I can think of if you can't beat him in direct war.

It has to be landlocked? Damn. But then, the AI is capable of crushing rebellions on its own anyhow, it would've never happened. *sigh*

@scriver: Yeah, I guess I'll have to try that. Or I could keep trying to assassinate the Emperor, but yeah. Does moving a councillor (spymaster, I guess) over to Constantinopole increase success chance there?

I find it incredibly bizarre the Byzzies would go after the Kingdom of Sicily in 1100-something, instead of, for example, the Sultanate of Rum that sort-of occupies a third of its 1066 territory. Or a weaker neighbour, like the small counties next to Croatia. And they do this while I'm in the middle of a Crusade - very Christian of them.
