What are your crown laws? If it's not possible to inherit out from the realm, maybe you could ship him off to someone else's court?

High crown authority so no inheritance outside of realm.  But I think he'd need an actual title for that to matter.

I actually loaded the save game because I didn't feel like working that quagmire out.  I don't always savescum away my problems but when I do I prefer to savescum away unwanted pregnancies.

Faced with that situation in real life I would have done the responsible thing and slept with an intern instead.  That's right America, Bill Clinton was just looking out for Chelsea!

Why not change it to Elective?  You'd probably have no problem offing candidates you dislike.

Either way, you'd have to put your wife to rest if you don't want a kid... or hope she gives you more girls/savescum some more.  You can probably find a good one that is +45 years old, most likely barren by that time...  +50 to be sure...

To ease the ethics of your problems with offing the wife... there is 'love'.  I can bet you that your character does not have the +75 relations bonus of 'Lovers' with your wife.

You're too soft, mainiac. Being nobility myself, I know first hand how the highborn families work. It's a game, you know. My older brother had to take care of our older brother himself, and my idiot cousin had an unfortunate accident during a boarhunt in the Findwoods. It's just our way of life. You deal with it.

On a serious note though, I would had left it up to the traits of my character. A Kind, Honest, or Just dude? Not a chance. But a Wrothful, Ambitious, Deceitful backstabber? That poor baby wouldn't have a chance. Most of my guys tend to be relatively good guys though, since it's so much easier getting good relations with the vassals that way.

Also, relatedly, you don't have to scum to before the pregnancy. I savescummed for an unrelated reason (I had a soon-to-be perfect opportunity to take out Valencia but got to impatient and got my ass kicked over several years) and what was my backup heir got turned into a daughter mid-pregnancy. So you could use your latest save and hope for another daughter.

I think this wife is fine as it took 18 years for this little fluke to happen and it didn't repeat itself upon loading.  Or maybe the duke is just shooting blanks, he did get angry and depressed a few years after the daughter was born.

I usually get a minimum of 3 brats per master.... but yea, I guess its cause I try not to get a chaste/celibate spouse... bonus points for lustful.  Get the pick of the litter... dealing with em can be expensive... but ya, thems the breaks for my choice.

Also, my duchess took a fancy for a female cousin... neither were homosexual either... I find that hilarious, but the game seemed to have referred her as a him.
