The north invasion should have been Canadians.

With lumberjack hats and axes.

Perhaps. I'm a bit disappointed that all the Canadians are just Native American tribes. I wanted to play as Calgary but it's just some random native tribe so I couldn't be bothered.

Descan:

It's pretty amusing. They use a lot of dumbass names like Kikkoman and Nissan and Lum. The big downside is they have no special unit (no samurai, seriously?!) and no cultural benefits whatsoever. I'm also not part of the Shinto religion as I think to reform that you need to basically be on the other side of America near Vancouver. So I chose the Americanists instead where we worship Washington and the founding fathers.

It's a very strange empire. We're a Japanese empire filled with no native Japanese people at all worshipping dead Americans.

Teneb:

I've been wondering what that purple glow is too.

According to the paradox bug forums, the glow is supposed to be to show who is a player in multiplayer games.

Well my Roman game ended because I couldn't scramble a dynastic heir in time and lost my empire to a Karling grandchild.

Time to try something else, maybe the Norse or the Zoroastrians?

Dunno, something appropriate about fighting inbreeding with inbreeding :P
Zunism looks sweet though, I hear they praise the sun.

So the opposite of modern weeaboos? That seems oddly appropriate.

Tried the Norse for a bit on Ironman, screwed that up in one lifetime.

Tried the Zoroastrians for a bit on Ironman, screwed that up in one lifetime and got stomped by Sunni Muslims in war.

I think I'll go and use the Byzantines to stomp the Sunnis a bit for a few lifetimes and work out my frustration on them.

It's castillan.

Used to be misspelled when the game was first released, they since fixed the localisation but didn't change the code / .txt files.

That's odd. I'm not familiar with console commands though.

The reason the AI prefers Santiago is because it has a (hidden) dignity rating of 10, by the way. Castille completely lacks that.

Being in something of a mood to try out some mods, and being fond of grimdark, I've downloaded an evil mod (torture, prima noctae, so on) and a werewolf/vampires/giants mod.

I'm going to start out as a Giant Werewolf Norseman and conquer the world in the name of Ragnarok. I shall be the herald of the Fimbulwinter, devourer of the sun and the moon, death of gods, first and greatest of the wolfkind of the north.

I can't wait.  :D

Assuming these mods aren't buggy as hell of course.  :-\

On an amusing (to me) side note, one of the first questions my brother asked me after I convinced him to try the game, was if he could torture people he captured. He was mildly disappointed when I told him you couldn't.  :P

EDIT: Mods seem to work as intended. Almost every Norse person is a Giant though, which might make things fun once I get them united under my immortal rule. Also, all my kids are werewolves, so that may make my lineage the greatest warriors in the world.  :D
