Yeah, boats are easy. Getting vassal levies together is more annoying, but it makes some sense to have that be a minor incentive to create vassal kingdoms, and the alternative could be much worse (if a huge empire could just yoink all their vassal levies out of nowhere in one spot, imagine fighting the Byzantines or Abbasids).

How is it tedious?

-Go to the military screen, raise all your vassal's boats.
-Zoom out.
-Use alt to select all the boat in one big rectangle
-Send them all to where you need them.

You end up with too many boats usually when this happens and you end up paying like five gorillion pounds in maintenance.

Hence why i said "Raise your vassal's boats". You don't pay for your vassal's levies.

Aha, smart! Still, the transportation is a little bit of a PITA. One that I have to do every time I fight a war as Wales when attacking France.

In other news, Jewish Wales is going really well! I'm not sure I can be bothered to administrate a large country (and it would make it OP when I ported it to EU IV) so I've set up some satellite duchies in England, but "England" as in the Kingdom has been shattered. Burgundy (which also owns the crowns of Germany and Bavaria) attempted to help out, but I crushed their 10K stack and then suddenly they had rebellions everywhere. I also murdered the ruling Queen and split the kingdoms between a 1 year old and a 0 year old. XD

I always seem to do really well and then make some mistake that results in disaster because I forgot something.

This time around, it was the that switching to seniority succession would mean that my Homosexual nephew is my heir, and I'm too old to remove him at this point. (65)

Oh well, better then forgetting about the succession entirely and having my beautifully put together realm shattered into pieces because Gavelkind succession is the default for some reason. (which was the critical mistake I made last run.)

Really, I may be just lousy with history but I would have thought that Primogeniture succession would be default in the game.

I am exactly the same. Mine was playing as Umayyad and forgetting about attrition when invading Mali... cue my half brother using his thirty billion troops to rebel and install himself as the king. Ragequit ensued.

I would have been less mad if he wasn't the ONLY MEMBER OF THAT FACTION. Seriously, dude was up to like 50% of my troops anyway because he spent his whole life warring for other people's duchies.

You would think. But what about all the other children? :o

I prefer ultimogeniture succession though, so that's why I don't like that idea.

The problem with that though is that as I understand it you COULD pass it to multiple people. Your land didn't just flying to the most far-flung family members and kin.

Sorry I meant children. Regadless, you could choose who your land went to.

You kinda can.
Say, you have a kingdom title and 3 duchy titles, and 3 sons. You can give a duchy to the third son, and then he won't be in the succession list. He'll still get claims, and you have to give something to every son, but it's possible to control what goes to whom (though I wish you could do it on the time of death, since it's not very interesting to give your titles before dieing).
It could be better, but that's already something.
