I never played an Ireland game, do you guys start out as a count or a duke? If count, could you share some strategies? Playing as Tuscany gets old fast.

I don't think I've played Ireland since my first few games of CK1. For me, playing anywhere that's completely surrounded by other Christian territories is annoying, since it's so much harder to expand (contiguously, anyway).

I don't know, since uniting Italy involves taking lands mostly from christians, I've found that the easiest way is to get a claimnant to your court and claim the county/duchy for him. I've pretty much united Italy this way. Fabricating claims and marrying off is also an easy way, but since you'll have to give those lands to someone anyway, there's pretty much no point, unless you want your kinsmen as dukes. Sometimes that goes badly though. Had my kinsman conquer from my other vassals almost everything except my demense, luckily his intrigue was low so I was able to imprison him.

Going Heretic in the middle of the British Isles is not fun.  I lost a pretty successful game when my child-king of Wales, already in the midst of a brutal succession war, converted to a Muslim faith and had everyone including his uncle the king of Scotland against him.  Of course, then he went heretic Muslim and lost any chance of having Saracen allies backing him up, but I digress.  Expect some brutal holy wars if you don't have some serious military backing going that route.

That a bit extreme. How do i setup this.
1. Wait till every schmuck in power is happy with your ruler (70+)
2. Send your archpriest to someland to research their stuff.
3. Wait till he happily anounce that he taught `insert some random christian heretism here`. Select `embrace`.
4. fix relationship, force all men in power to convert, assassinate, boil in oil, cook in brazen bull.
5. Enjoy your new shiny casus belli.
6. Profit.

You could just keep him around as an amazing source of cash and immunity to excommunication, or you could press his claim on the Papacy to get an extremely loyal pope who will excommunicate most people for you.

Note that if you maintain an antipope for an extended period of time the church is going to fragment inevitably and you'll have to deal with heresy you wouldn't have otherwise.

If you are basque you can go absolute cognatic and appoint your daughters to any title, including bishops.  You can then make them anti-popes.

Unfortunately it seems that the papal states is agnatic open elective.  This prevents female rulers from pressing claims on it.  If you could somehow change the papacy to agnatic-cognatic open elective then you could create a female pope.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Golden Horde should get out of my Scotland >.>
I also have no idea how that even happened. I build a barony (I assume) there and appointed a random baron. Now a Mongol duke, with no family whatsoever, directly owns the barony...

Just declare war and take it, the mongols probably can't save him for long enough to reach 100% warscore.

I would if I didn't border the Golden Horde :S
Next to Scotland I own Norway, Finland and Livonia/Estonia and the Golden Horde has all of Russia, Hungary and most of Khazaria. I am not going to defeat them in a war :|
