Nice, at first I thought he was going to be mediocre with the details, but he really ramped up the details later.

Ehhhh, I need a fun/interesting start.

De Vannes of Bretagne in 1066 starts (well, as soon as his elderly mother dies) with claims on all of Northern France, and has quickly become one of my favourite starts. Reclaim your ancestral throne! Drive back the Saxons - and the Normans both if need be - and reform the Realm Britannica of the Third Emperor!

I think this game has really begun to click with me. I just became the Wendish Emperor as the character Lubartas Palemoniatis, after unifying Lithuania and reforming the Romuva religion with my previous characters. Aside from some dicey successions (originally in Gavelkind, and now in Elective) things have been pretty smooth rolling. Interestingly enough, I saw Bulgaria form the Carpathian Empire in this game, which is something I've never seen before.

How can I minimize the fallout from one of my characters dying?

How can I minimize the fallout from one of my characters dying?
-Don't be an unreformed pagan
-Have a high (that tech that increases your demesne size as well) tech level in your capital.
-Have an heir with great diplomacy.

That + everything else you'd normally do to keep vassals happy. The first two are just to decrease the "short reign" penalty btw.

Also make sure to die with a giant pile of gold, both to bribe vassals and buy mercs in case of civil war. Focus on making your most powerful vassals happy by bribing them and using your chancellor. Or just make them not a threat by using your spymaster to discourage factionalism (if you have time, it can take forever) or if you have a reason, just imprison them.

Also, if a faction gets strong you can go park your army on top of the leader of the faction's capital, so they can't get any even troops when civil war hits.
