I've also noticed that even with extremely high relations with the king he'll almost never give you more holdings. In a Castile game I helped to turn the tides of a holy war and the king honoured me by completely ignoring my efforts and granting the conquered land to some lowborn courtiers. The same scumbag king had me training troops in his capital when the crusades were called and I couldn't go off to join them, granting me the crusader trait. >:(
This has always been a problem throughout paradox's games. The ai won't care if you helped them out. They're more likely to just grab as much of your generosity as they can and then leave you in the cold (or try to beat you up) than give you anything for your trouble.

I'd prefer a completely fictional civ, especially after they tried so hard to establish a realistic and believe society and simulation.

I think thats what bothers me most abouot this whole thing...  Its supposed to be sim.

They say its completely optional in the blurb, and even if you buy it you can always turn it off in the DLC selection menu when you don't want it. Besides, all good history nerds (The main demographic for Paradoxian Grand Strat) love a good alternate history, so I'm all for this. I also hope that they continue this trend of small optional ahistorical DLC. :P

I'd buy it if it has a bookmark during the height of the invasion. Too bad the devs already stated that wont' happen.

Oh no. Not by a longshot. It's Grand Strategy, not a History Simulator.

Seems to depend on who you ask. Some history buffs seem to demand complete and UTTER historical accuracy - even if all of that goes out the window the second you unpause the game... some history buffs confuse me.

These people confuse a sim with a diorama. The point of a sim is to help you to visualize all the What Ifs (like what if Charlemagne established primogeniture or married Irene re-uniting the Roman Empire? Or what if united by fear of an technologically superior oversea aggressor, the Native Americans reverse engineered long ships and steel and sent a preemptive counterstrike against it?).

Yeah, they don't seem to get that. Then again, my experience with history buffs is mostly with the Total War community on the official forums, which seem to decry everything CA does as "unhistorical" and "not carrying about history" when they use the wrong kind of helmet for a Roman soldier, or they use uniform colors. Or any other myriad of things they seem to dislike.

When I say east I mean, my king watches the warrior catch a fly with two sticks he eats with and referred to my king with the "-san" suffix.
