Is it just me, or is finding unmarried, young, genius, males a pain in the fucking arse? Seriously, when its women I normally find them all over, but when the person I'm finding is male there always either on someone council, "too high up in succession", a priest, or way too old.

Seriously WTF.

Edit: Also Golden Horder randomly conquered Denmark the second after they got some land. lolwut

Assuming you want a matrilineal marriage, that is the case, yes.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?625933-Next-DLC-title-leaked

It seems the next DLC might be called "The Legacy of Rome" which I can only assume focuses on the Byzantines and maybe (hopefully) the Papal State.

Actually, I heard was that they were going to make clergy playable at some point, thus "The Legacy of Rome" might be the Roman Catholic Church, not Byzantium.

Honestly, I'd rather the new DLC be about somebody I can't play now instead of locking me out of something that I can play.

Adding options is always superior to subtracting options.

However, you have to consider that Byzantium is indeed the Legacy of Rome. In fact, they are a direct continuation of it. I'm leaning more towards Byz over here.

That's not wholly correct. There are many "legacies of Rome". when the Roman Empire crumbled over the ages, it spawned things like the Western Roman Empire (which in and of itself split into the Holy Roman Empire and the Papacy), all the Italian states, the Eastern Roman Empire (later known as Byzantine), the Frankish states, English states, etc...

And don't forget the biggest thing that seems to pass over everyone's eyes for some reason. The Rome today is and has always been the same Rome that was the seat of the Roman Empire. Where the Pope sits is the same place as where Caesar ruled. So... technically speaking... if based on proximity... the Catholic church is the rightful owner of the title of Roman Empire.

Pnx

So I'm going to guess that it'll be adding in cardinals and papal elections, and also possibly some Byzantine/orthodox stuff. But I dunno.

Actually, the Papacy/Bishop of Rome existed during the Roman Empire. The Holy Roman Empire was in no way created by the real Roman Empire; it was one of the various successor states to Charlemange's empire. The only one of the various european states that came after Rome that actually identified as Roman and retained its Roman/Greek ruling class was the Byzantine Empire. All of the other states were set up by various "barbarian" groups, including all of the northern italian states.

As for Russia, Moscow was described as the third rome because it was the center of orthodox Christianity after Rome and Constantinople were no longer Orthodox.

The Roman Empire didn't crumble into the Byzantine, the Byzantine Empire was the Roman Empire. It didn't even turn into the "Byzantine Empire" until the 1900's when the word term "Byzantine" was made up.

The Pope only wore the title Pontifex Maximus, never Imperator. Technically speaking he has no more claim than the mayor. Abstractly/metaphorically speaking at most.

Not picks aside, I also think it's the ERE/Orthodoxy that'll get the DLC. I really hope they don't make them unplayable though. That wouldn't be cool at all.

Once you think about it, the Palpacy really does need an overhaul.  As it is now, popes always start out as young 20 somethings (at least in my games).  In reality, they were old guys, who had risen through the ranks of the clergy.  Plus, there are no cardinals in native CK2.

Yeah but that was just some bullshit that the Ruler of Moscowy made up after the Byzantine dissapeared off the map due to the fact that he married some Greek Princess.

This is all disregarding the fact that the real third Rome was those guys who ruled after the byzantines and styled themselves Kayser-i Rum.

Yeah but that was just some bullshit
You know that the only ones who ever disputed Russia's claim to the third* Rome were the Nazis, right? ;D

(*)Claiming you're the third Rome instead if the Rome is an odd thing to do in general, so everyone pretty much left them alone with that claim.

Yes exactly this, The "Byzantine" Empire was the continuing Roman Empire, it wasn't some contemporary nation that was like "lol we are Rome Now" It was the Roman Empire.  The Greater Roman Empire split into two parts, the Western Roman Empire & the Eastern Roman Empire, the West fell while the East managed to keep going until the Ottomans finished them off in 1453. (Also known as the End Date to CK2 :P)

Speaking of Ottomans, if you fast forward far enough (Its pretty near the end), you can play the Ottoman Empire, with good ol' Suleiman the Magnificent as your heir.
