You do realize there's a decision to invite a random noble to your court, right?
This might be what you meant (though inviting people is a different thing and costs money/piety), but you can also go to the holding (castle, city, etc.) and press the "create new vassal" button. This will give the holding to a randomly generated (but eligible- no children or elderly... or women, sigh) lowborn ruler. And it's free! (unlike inviting a noble to court) Great for offloading those useless Arab lands you got.

That's what I meant by giving titles to barons, though giving them to mayors and bishops is probably a bad idea unless you have a specific intention due to different mechanics.
Another great tactic is to give titles to the courtiers of your vassals.

I generally perfer giving land to people from existing dynasties, because I perfer keeping less but larger feudal families around.

I still invite nobles to the court as fodder for Matrilineal marriages to my female dynasty members though.

I know of this, I needed noble dynasties to give duchies and counties to.

I wish the rules for defensive wars where not so skewed towards the attacker. I was locked in a war with the HRE that they declared over some lands I grabbed from independent duchies and after 8 years,I was finally beating them back. I believe I was near 80% war score and had totally crushed most of their offensive powers. They kept offering white peace, but I wanted them to lose the claim on those lands so I refused. Then the HRE emperor dies and suddenly the war is forgotten, all of my 60 war prisoners are liberated no questions asked and everyone go back home for a cold beer and a nice relaxing bath. Of course they get to keep the claim and declare war again some time later.

Moral of the story, just declare war first and gain some lands in the process.

I wish it was it was more like vicky II were you could add war goals if you were winning. Especially for defenders this would be awesome.

Is it just me, or is finding unmarried, young, genius, males a pain in the fucking arse? Seriously, when its women I normally find them all over, but when the person I'm finding is male there always either on someone council, "too high up in succession", a priest, or way too old.

Seriously WTF.

Edit: Also Golden Horder randomly conquered Denmark the second after they got some land. lolwut

Why strengthen the competition? Let their own king get them some land. Or did you mean you needed people from your own dynasty? (I'm pretty sure this doesn't give you any more points, but at least they're family... or something)

It seems the next DLC might be called "The Legacy of Rome" which I can only assume focuses on the Byzantines and maybe (hopefully) the Papal State.

Being the byzantine fanboy that I am, I'll probably buy it as soon as it appears in steam.

(Assuming, of course, that it is about the byzantine empire in the first place)

Pretty awesome, even though I don't play the Byzantine Empire as much as I play in its 13th century which can be interesting.
