-Save&Quit, then play as the newly-christened Count.
Why not just switch over using the console menu?

Uh, I don't know how to use the console menu.   :-[

Or maybe you're your uncle.  Or you were... the uncle... and now he's your uncle.  And you might be Bob?  And possibly an uncle, but not your own uncle, that would be silly.

Or just keep your mouse over the character while typing.

Frankly, considering these family trees, you're lucky if you aren't your own Uncle AND your own niece.

If you wind up with text blocking it you can't do that. Then again, you can just use the clear command.
You can, but it's finicky. Just keep slowly moving the cursor around the portrait until the tooltip pops back up.

What's finicky about typing "clear"?

That if you don't use it (maybe you really need whatever is in the console for some reason) then the text remains, leaving only a few target pixels.

My current character is a kind, patient grandmother of 67... Who has been leading the armies of Capua for 50 years now, kicking much ass.

I'm nearing 70 and have plenty of heirs, and at this point I'm kind of mired in treaties. At this point, my only hope to die in battle like a true viking is to raid Constantinople and India until I finally get killed.

Since no one talked about it here in this threat, there will be changes to the alliance system again. Source

Main change is you can now decline call-to-arms again. But there will be harsh consequences:
  • The Alliance and the Non-Aggression Pact are broken.
  • You lose half your current Prestige, plus 200 (same as truce breaking.)
  • Adds an “Alliance Breaker” Character modifier lasting 15 years that lowers the opinions of all vassals by -10 and all foreign rulers by -25.
  • You get a -50 opinion penalty with the calling ruler and his or her close family (including the spouse that allowed the alliance in the first place.)

Also "The AI will basically never dishonor an alliance, but we will see what we can do about it stupidly over-committing troops (which has always been a problem, really.)"

My dead wife just gave birth...

At least the child has not yet been confirmed as a voice of Satan... Yet.

Sounds like a hell of a story for your wife's son. Never mind Conan born on the battlefield, this kid fought his way out of a womb already many days dead.

A creepy bug? Well, maggots do spawn from dead meat, if medieval science is correct... Maybe we should test to see if this child is an insect.

Oh, wait. That kind of bug.

Spent ten years at sea pillaging the entire mediterranian. Visited mecca. Pillaged it. Took over a county, built ships there, sailed to India. Pillaged it. Returned home, put down a catholic rebellion. Started pillaging it, then remembered that I already own that land.

I'm like 73 now. WHY DOES ODIN DENY ME A GLORIOUS DEATH IN BATTLE?!?!
